I never thought I would find myself in yelling match with an acupuncturist.
I WILL REMOVE THIS REVIEW IF DR DON OUTREACHES TO APOLOGIZE ABOUR OUR INTERACTION. However based my experience and his behavior I don't feel that he will not be doing that. If this is still up then assume the review is accurate.
Dr Don may be good at acupuncture but he is possibly one of the most dismissive, condescending people I've ever interacted with. I feel this can be summed up when I said 'I imagine you're a good acupuncturist but you're coming across very condescending' to which the response was 'No, I'm not'.
We told him we only wanted pain management. He told us to take his herbs after we had on multiple occasions said we were already working other practitioners for herbs. He disregarded our feedback. He disregarded information from other doctors. Didn't bother to listen to anything we were saying. The worst part is I am not the only person he did this to, I wished he hadn't treated my colleagues so poorly as well.
If you'd like someone to talk over you, be dismissive, and need his ego stroked while not listening to you, then go this see Jack*.
Before the response addresses this, yes we were aware of the conditions, we've had several other practitioners working on the same issues, which Dr Don seemed to not hear when we repetitively said that and opted to dismiss what we were saying. Detoxing herbs are not being used and the formula that is being used is very to what Dr Don recommended. Again simply listening and not talking down or over would have been really helpful.
Edit Reply: It surprises me that in 1000s of patients there are no Nick's on record.
Dr John, your establishment seems like a beautiful place with excellent practitioners which makes it more surprising that Dr Don...
Read moreMy experience at the TrueMind Center was not as advertised. I scheduled what I believed was going to be a 90 minute initial interview and treatment with Dr. Ding. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful. However, my evaluation with the practitioner lasted perhaps five minutes at most (I was expecting a comprehensive history, lasting 30 minutes or so), and then I was placed on a treatment table, five more minutes with the practitioner, a few needles placed, then left for the standard 30 minutes or so on the table. That was the end of the "comprehensive evaluation and treatment," total time of about 45 minutes. When completed, a staff member was prepared to charge me the advertised $230.00 for my visit (which I paid), and $100.00 for herbs (which I did not take - in my past experience, I typically have paid no more than $30.00 for these preparations), and wanted to set me up for a treatment program that included frequent visits and appeared to be pretty standard for them. I have had numerous experiences with acupuncture and DOM practitioners, and this was most certainly not typical (at least in my experience). I was genuinely looking forward to this visit, and was disappointed that this practice seemed to be overly focused on the "business" side of the equation (at least, that was my experience). I would not personally go back, or recommend...
Read moreAbout this time every year, my immunity gets run down due to stress/season change/etc. and (without fail) I develop a cold that lasts for weeks. After years of taking OTC meds to mask the symptoms so I can get through the day, a friend of mine suggested that I look into acupuncture. I called a few acupuncture places in my area, and was pleased to actually get to speak with a person when I called TrueMind Center. I had an appointment with Dr. Hua the very next day. I had read about "community style" acupuncture online, and was pleased that the TrueMind Center had private treatment rooms. Due to this, I was able to relax much more deeply. Dr. Hua gave me my first treatment and I felt immediately better afterwards, and even better a few hours later! I went back a second time that week and my cold was completely gone after the 2 treatments! Dr. Hua told me that I could come in regularly for treatments to strengthen my immunity, rather than just waiting until I got sick again. We could prevent it from happening all together. That was a year and a half ago, and I am pleased to report that I have been cold/flu free ever since! Not to mention, I have also had her treat me for lower back pain, insomnia, and stress! If you're thinking of trying acupuncture, try the TrueMind Center, they...
