Today, during a brief layover, I stumbled upon this gem of a steakhouse. It was a serendipitous discovery that turned my fleeting visit into a remarkable culinary experience.
I chose the unconventional route and ordered a mushroom burger from this revered steakhouse. Despite being slightly overcooked, the burger held its ground with a robust blend of flavorful mushrooms and fresh ingredients. The hint of char surprisingly added a unique twist, enhancing the overall taste.
Complementing the slightly hearty burger was a beautifully balanced stout. The rich, multi-layered brew served as the perfect sidekick, soothing the palate with its chocolatey and malty hints. It was a delightful coupling that solidified my satisfaction with the meal.
Making this layover even more memorable was the bartender, Rebecca. She showed exceptional customer service, acknowledging the slight overcook issue with grace and quick action. Her warm and friendly approach left an indelible mark, enhancing the overall experience.
Despite the brief nature of my visit, this steakhouse managed to impress with its top-notch food and stellar service. Even though the mushroom burger had a minor misstep, the overall taste and experience were not compromised. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone passing through. With its remarkable service and delicious fare, this steakhouse is a must-visit destination, even if you're...
Read moreI was looking forward to a relatively lighter meal since I hadn’t eaten and needed to catch a flight. The server was prompt and kept my water glass filled. She brought a nice chili margarita that I began to sip and I asked her advice on two menu items - house salad with grilled chicken or the tomato mozzarella sandwich. I specifically asked if the dressing on the sandwich was more like a mayo or more like a pesto spread. She said pesto so I selected that with fries, as I do not eat mayonnaise dressings. When it arrived and I took a bite, I quickly determined that it was indeed a mayo dressing and tried to work around it to scrape it off. Unfortunately, the sandwich was drenched with dressing on both sides and seeping throughout all the ingredients. With three layers of mozzarella, it was also very heavy. I tried removing a layer of cheese and everything was falling apart due to the extensive dressing. I took one more bite and set it aside. To her credit, the server did ask and I told her was far too much mayo for me. She offered to bring me something else but I had to catch a flight. There was no discount applied to my bill. So for $60, I had two bites of a sandwich, about 10 fries and half a margarita because I lost my appetite after that. Very disappointing as all the components...
Read moreLayovers in Denver are a better option than some other airports. Spending it at Elway's Steakhouse is an AWESOME option!
One thing I checked on were... how do the prices compare to their freestanding restaurants... a buck or two higher but nothing crazy regarding prices! Hopefully this doesn't give them ideas that they can charge more.
Staff overall were very friendly, handling the extra push from the layovers with humor and genuine grace. Everyone were very funny and helped to chill out my kinda sour mood, after being bumped around on flights being canceled for the last 70hrs.
Winelist by the glass is really well chosen and not just standard. The very dry Alsatian Reisling was a particularly good pairing with the excellent Grilled Artichoke Halves. I want the aioli recipe! The Spanish Rioja was a favorite of the very adorable bartender and went perfectly with the just spicy enough Steak Tacos, which was PLENTY as a lighter meal with the artichokes.
I wish I could have done.more.damage to the menu, bit.I still had a flight to catch and being bloated out isn't a great idea. But I really did want a NY Strip.
I am due to visit Denver and I'd absolutely want to visit one of John Elway's...
