I went to Gateaux (=Cakes) first time in June, It is a humble bakery shop, but I had a good feeling, so I took a chance and went for a whole New York Cheese Cake for my lady's birthday, I think it was about $45 which is not bad - and I must tell you, she and the guests loved it, everyone asked where I got it. I am a huge fan of cheese cakes and I can honestly swear that the cheese cake was fabulous, the rich, wholesome ingredients they used were for sure top quality ingredients - all went together well, the decoration on it, too, were cool! Thanks for a wonderful cake, I am glad I went there!

Oh! I wanted to add that, the manager there, not sure her name was super helpful, not sure her name but apparently she bakes, too! Went in again yesterday Nov. 26th when it was all nasty and cold out (12”of snow), was surprised the bakery was opened for business (very dedicated - I love it). So I got this rich chocolate Cake with a hat decorative piece on it - the cake was flourless and is to die for!! I got a few other little minis and my family all had one and the looks on their faces made me happy I went back to Gateaux! It is the love for baking that made all their art work so scrumptious and wonderful! Thanks guys!! Keep up the great work of art!! Fast forward to June 2020 — of course I came back! For yet another birthday cake! Fabulous!! I ordered something with a blend of Sacher Torte with a layer of I think, Belgian mouse?! And ganache’, definitely awesome!! Everyone loved it!! The outer layer is blue and I cannot recall what it was made out of but it was absolutely marvelous!! I could go on! Chefs at Gateaux must love what they do, is really shows!!❤️ Thanks for your hard work, we love everything you’ve made for us for the past 4 years!!...

I really regret having to write this review. Gateaux is a family-owned local business and I hope they succeed. From what I've heard, their pre-made pastries are delicious.

The problem is that I have a number of food allergies, including to nuts and dairy, which makes it very difficult to find bakeries with anything I can eat. We spoke with Michelle about doing a custom vegan order for our upcoming wedding - and she was an absolute dream to work with. She was very attentive to my dietary restrictions, and came up with an exciting plan for creating two (!) custom deserts that I would be able to enjoy at my wedding. I was beyond thrilled.

Everything went downhill when we tried picking up our trial samples for testing ahead of time. First, they were not ready on the agreed upon day. Second, they were prepared as cupcakes (not cake bites), so we couldn't judge what the final product would look like. Third, one flavor was missing a key ingredient (raspberry filling), which was hastily added on top of the cupcakes while we awkwardly waited in the lobby. Fourth, one of the cupcake styles was very dry and seemed stale. Finally, and worst of all, one of the flavors contained walnuts - despite our very clear communication that I am allergic to nuts. Everything about this trial seemed careless, which is totally unacceptable for a potential wedding client.

When you are dealing with allergies, you get one shot to do things right before all trust is lost. For anyone with food allergies or dietary restrictions, I suggest you...

I am not a baker. I ordered a chocolate strawberry birthday cake 6 weeks in advance for my daughter. 2 weeks later I found out my daughter wanted a strawberry shortcake. When I called back to change my order a young lady advised me that they could make a vanilla cake with some cream and strawberry layers and extra strawberries on the top. I questioned how the art decor will be ok with the extra strawberries, and she said it would be no problem and the extra cost was $15. There were no extra strawberries on top of the cake when I picked it up, that I saw through the window of the box, but what do I know. I'm not a baker. Turns out they made the chocolate strawberry cake after all. I emailed right away, and called the next morning. I was told straight away, so coldly, that I was wrong and I only called to add extra strawberries to the order. The manager was very combative and unwilling to believe her people could ever make a mistake. I tried to tell her I would never have called to add strawberries for that much in the first place, but it didn't help. She assured me she would call me back in an hour after talking to the associate, but after 2 days I'm thinking they care less now than when I was on the phone with her getting told I was lying. I was going to ask to get at least the extra charge refunded for the strawberries that didn't exist, not the whole cake. But I didn't feel like I got a chance to because she kept shushing me. You definitely convinced me to not order my next cake from you...

I visited this bakery for the first time on a whim. I was in the area and it was my husbands birthday, so I needed a cake. I looked on Google Maps, saw the high rating and thought I had hit the jackpot! The place was cute, the gift items and floral bouquets were displayed with impeccable class and the display case filled with a variety of pastries and cakes was to die for! Being a first time customer, I decided to get a predictable flavor, so I went with the Reese’s peanut butter cup cake. I thought for sure it would be no fail! Unfortunately it was not even remotely what I was hoping for. The buttercream frosting tasted like bland, unsweetened whipped cream, the yellow pudding filling (ganache?) was not sweet either and the chocolate cake was dry with a very dull chocolate flavor. My teenage daughters first reaction when she tried the cake was “ this cake tastes like it’s a sugar free vegan cake.” Then to top off our disappointment, there were literally tiny sprinklings of what appeared to be Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in the layers. The cake otherwise had no peanut butter flavoring to identify it as a peanut butter chocolate cake. Michelle was AMAZING, professional and SO friendly so I’m really bummed the cake flavoring was such a disappointment. The common issue I notice in other reviews as well is that the buttercream taste and texture are like unsweetened whipped cream and the cake is not sweet either. All I can say is “Where’s the Sugar?”

I've use this bakery three times now. The first time was for my son's first birthday. It was a beautifully designed three-tier cake that cost somewhere around $300 but I didn't mind because it was well decorated and enough for all of our guests. The second cake was for my son's third birthday it wasn't particularly as good as the first but good enough for us to try again this year for my son's fifth birthday. We asked for a Transformer theme with Optimus Prime and paid extra for the design. $40 for the cake itself and $40-$50 for the design. Needless to say I was expecting something pretty cool. Unfortunately what I got was an uncreative. unimaginative, boring cake. King Soopers does design better for far less. I certainly would've paid more if that's what they needed but they said they could give me a cool theme with Optimus prime so I trusted them and left it up to their creativity. I was very wrong to do so. I basically paid $50 dollars more or less to have someone draw Optimus prime on a piece of chocolate.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Michelle and Gateaux Bakery! My daughter was married in July, and just five weeks before the wedding, her original bakery canceled her cake and dessert bar order. I reached out to Gateaux, and Michelle was absolutely amazing - so kind, understanding, and eager to help. She immediately reassured me that everything would be perfect and went above and beyond to make sure my daughter never knew there had been an issue. Not only was Michelle a joy to work with, but the wedding cake and dessert bar were stunning and absolutely delicious! Truly, the cancellation from the first bakery turned out to be a blessing in disguise because Gateaux exceeded every expectation. We are so grateful to Michelle for saving the day - she made a stressful situation effortless and created something beautiful and memorable. Thank you, Michelle, for making my daughter's wedding sweeter than we could have ever imagined.
