I wish I could like this hotel. The location for the conference center is great and it’s a nice walkable area for restaurants and other activities. The breakfast is also really good. Lots of variety. Pretty tasty. HOWEVER this is a business trip for me and there are some things I can’t get over. The biggest is that the man who checked us in couldn’t understand how our business pre authorization form worked. Despite the fact that it came from the hotel website and was filled out by our HR department. So my personal card was charged thousands of dollars. Despite the fact that I asked him four times before he swiped whether I was going to be charged. Not only that, but I was also charged $50 each day for “incidentals” per room. This hotel has free breakfast, a tiny bar with 4 seats, and a little grab and go snack area. Who could possibly spend $50 PER DAY on KitKats and Pepsi??? It’s an absurd charge. It’s the same price I paid in Vegas at a resort/casino with dozens of restaurants and bars. This hotel doesn’t even have room service. Which sucks. On a business trip there are a couple of things I expect. A comfortable bed, a quiet atmosphere, and solid housekeeping. After being out at conference from 7 AM until 10 PM, I just want to sink into a comfortable bed. This thing is as hard as a rock. But there’s a big ole dent on one side where it’s worn out. The pillows suck. You try to put your head on one and it just disappears. You try to put two under your head and they both disappear from under your head, but also are somehow too high??? The pillow cases are all pilling. There is nothing even slightly luxurious about the duvet. It’s thin and sad. The hardest part about trying to sleep is the DJ, karaoke, and cheering happening from the rooftop of the Denver Athletic Club next door into the late hours of the night. Not fun when you have to wake up at 5 AM to catch up on emails before running over to the conference center. I didn’t get housekeeping the first day, but did the second day. They didn’t replace the used washcloths with clean ones. What? The shower floor is SO slick that I had to clutch the bar with one hand the entire time. It’s hard to relax on the couch because there’s a huge floor length mirror in front of you so you’re just staring at yourself while trying to eat or whatever. When I’m staying in a hotel, I want it to feel like a luxurious experience. I didn’t get to pick this hotel, and I...
Read moreOverall, my stay here was good. The location was good since it is near a lot of places if interest but not really close to anything. The city view was good as was the room with exceptions as follows The thermostat was excellent until you left the room when, upon return, did an auto reset from 65 F to 72 F. This happened every morning, and I had to reset it manually back to 65 F. Blanket and sheets had stains on them. The refrigerator was smaller than other Full Kitchen suites at other Hyatt Places and had no ice maker. The pool water was dirty on the surface since the water level was above the skimmers. Thus, debris could not be filtered. The WIFI network was slow at 6mb and paused on streaming at times. Also, the account was reset each day, and I had to reboot to get login to work again. By default, bedding pillows and comforters are feathers, which many people are allergic to.
The great parts about the stay were The front desk and Vallet were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was best I have seen at any Hyatt Place or House I have stayed. Towels in Exercise and Pool areas were excellent and plentifully well stocked. Exercise equipment was, and the equipment was all functional with exceptions of a few that heart rate function was broke. When the hvac thermostat was not auto reseting, the temperature control and room temperature were excellent. The pots, pans, and utensils in the kitchen were clean and not badly worn. Price was excellent for location but does change like the stock the stock market based on occupancy, which is usually high because it is a nice hotel. Parking is expensive, but this is true of all hotels downtown. I did not have an issue with this since I was dropped off, and downtown is more a walking commute area. Early checkin and late checkout were excellent. Overall, globalist recognition was excellent except for forgetting the welcome gift until the second day but better late than never. Pool temperature was 88F, which is great for customers since it is semi hottub, but it is expensive for hotel electricity wise.
Overall, it was a good stay and may return some day to review mountain...
Read moreWe were looking for a decently priced place to stay and with others going for $250 - $400 a night, before taxes, a sub $200 option was nice to see on the night of an event. Honestly for that price and what looked like maybe not a very good area we didn't expect much.
I'm happy to report that we were pleasantly surprised! The area was better than it looked on Google Maps and is more geared toward Government buildings and the Convention center. However; it was very close to everything. Union Station was only about a mile walk from the Hotel so we took the train from the Airport and walked to the hotel. The walk was nice because we got to walk through almost all of downtown and see places we wanted to visit. Plenty of Lime or Lyft scooters and bikes around as well if you don't want to walk. Although, using a scooter was priced about the same as a ride share for 1 - 3 mile trips.
Our event was at Ball Arena and we visited the Capitol Building, the Denver Zoo, and stopped at Pete's Kitchen for lunch all while just walking around. Granted it was 7-8 miles a day, but there are many options for conveyance. Also a block away from the Hotel is the Pavilion which has really good burger place, 5082 Burger Bar, as well as Maggianos for some really good Italian food.
Back to the Hotel. We booked the King Studio Suite High Floor (Sofabed) which had a full kitchen w/ dishes and all. The black-out shades were in a track so it allowed for almost full light blockage. The place was clean (the only spot they missed that we noticed was on a high cabinet in the kitchen), the bed was comfortable, and we have no complaints. We were on the 20th floor and noticed the water flow in the toilet was weak so there's that info in case you needed it. The included breakfast selection gave a variety of hot and cold options: cereal, oatmeal, toast (ran out of bagels), yogurt, fruit, juices, eggs (hard boiled and scrambled), breakfast potatoes, pancakes, and sausage links.
There of course were nicer-looking rooms with different amenities at other hotels, but for the prices, they wanted it just doesn't seem worth it for the value you get at...
