Gelato Boy — Restaurant in Denver

I can try and find faults in this place, but they are not substantial enough to give it anything but a five for a rating. I keep finding myself coming here, so it seems to be some subconscious five regardless. The staff has always been incredibly energetic and welcoming whenever the wife and I go there. One time, I was mad at myself for not ordering the monthly special, and the staff person gave me a scoop on the house of it. I just had sensory overload when ordering. I had the cookie jar and their ridiculous flavor this last time. The ridiculous flavor is gooey butter cake and caramel, and that alone is a good reason to go. It is as good as it sounds. The flavors are creative, and there are two rotating flavors each month that are equally as creative. My two digs on the place are nit-picky. I wish they rotated in more flavors than two a month or more frequently, and I wish they had a really small portion, as their small is $6. I like getting tiny kid portions at other places. Another great thing they do, which I haven't seen anywhere else, is offer all of the dietary options with multiple flavor choices. Gluten free options, dairy free options, etc., all notated clearly on the menu. And you can't beat the neighborhood it is in, as Tennyson is a really awesome street to explore. Our first time here was disappointing. My husband ordered a regular size which comes with up to 3 scoops/flavors. He wanted two flavors and the girl pressured him into a 3rd flavor because she said she can only do a half scoop of each. This is not rocket science. Fill the cup up with two flavors, 50/50. Why is this so complicated? She did not even fill the cup up with the 3 flavors he did pick.

I also ordered a regular size and a different employee helped me. I asked for 1 flavor only and he filled the cup up with 1 flavor only, no problem, but the portion I had was significantly different from what my husband had. The bar near the window was very dirty, melted ice cream and crumbs everywhere. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned all day.

Please tell your employees with long hair to tie it back. The girl who scooped my husband's gelato kept dipping the tips of her hair...

Such a nice treat. They have so many delicious, unique, and interesting flavor. I just wanted a tiny cup and you were able to select two flavors i ended up getting the blood orange pineapple and the hazelnut chocolate flavor. I also friend the lavender poppy seed flavor all 3 were delicious. Only odd thing is the line to order. To me it felt like it was backwards you need to go around towards the back then come toward the exit to play. It’s a tiny shop so they are doing what they can with the space they have but never the less the dessert...
