Delicious, good food! On our last day of a 10-day vacation trip to Colorado, we finally decided to eat at Illegal Pete’s. Before leaving for our trip, Illegal Pete’s came up on quite a few research lists and “best-of’s” we found online and being from out of state, all we knew is the name was catchy. It was not until we arrived to Colorado that we finally started realizing what kind of restaurant it was. It rivals Chipotle and Qdoba in that the ordering process and food was a very similar process and easy to understand. I really liked that they give you a choice of a small bag of chips or a tortilla to go with your bowl. The staff were all super friendly, especially after we told them it was our first time there, they helped walk us through our options. I noticed Illegal Pete’s has a full bar inside, which in my opinion, might make it better than a chipotle or qdoba. Unfortunately we did not get any drinks from the bar because we had to catch a flight but each one we saw looked good! The food itself was really good and kept me wanting more! 100% I would go back to Illegal Pete’s next time I am...
Read moreThis review isn't in regards to food or the service at the food counter. This is solely in reference to the crazy rude bartender. I noticed she was being rude to other customers before even ordering and overheard people talking about how nasty she was. The restaurant apparently has some very strict rules about not accepting expired IDs (which is totally fine! I don't need a margarita THAT BAD!), not allowing anyone without a valid ID to even hold a drink for their partner who is wrestling a toddler (actually yelled at me to "put the drink down on the bar now!"), and not allowing children to play on the patio even well supervised (again shouting across the busy patio). The bartender could have easily enforced all of these rules politely even though they're pretty intense. If she had, I still probably wouldn't want to go back because it was so unfriendly to children. But this bartender was so nasty about all of it that we just left after eating about 2 bites. She was made a scene in the restaurant 3 different times and was clearly on...
Read moreI've been going to Illegal Pete's for a while now. The food at this location is a hit or miss. My problem is not the inconsistencies, but the workers are borderline racist. I am a person of color and EVERY single time I've visited this location, the workers assume I am a delivery driver, even though i'm clearly waiting in line to order. It ridiculous, prejudice and very exhausting this continues to happen. Workers stare at me for checking my order as if I am stealing food or usually plainly asked "who I am picking up for?". I also get second priority when I do place an order for pick-up. If I do not approach the counter very closely, the workers do not engage with me.
Today I walked up to the counter and was asked if I was ordering food, then the worker takes a second look at me and asked if I was picking up an delivey order. I get it. I'm sure there are tons of delivery driver who do this, but I have an American accent and I was literally staring at the food. I'm done ordering at...
