Jaimes Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Denver

ok....so when Jaimes first opened i went with my brother a few times but never returned.....food was good but potion/price ratio sucked (at the time)

fast forward....years later my boss always tells me how good it is, and we always have the price/portion argument

but today i was JONESING for chicano delight.....CHILI CHEESE FRIES w/ CHICHARRON!!! which is exactly what i ordered years ago

now if you live in sw denver you know.....we are running out of good beans and chili joints....you can find taco joints and and messikin joints everywhere but finding decent green chili is getting scarce in this town

so i called Jaimes (i actually work next door last few years) and ordered..and the price had not gone up much higher...when i went to pick my order up i was very pleasantly surprised as the hostess brought my to-go box in a full sixed container!!! HELL YES!!! it was nice and heavy too!!!

the chili cheese fries were great and the chicarrones nice and crunchy!!! i ordered hot and it was medium/hot so perfect for me.....hot enough to put hair on my chest but not so hot it wasnt enjoyable!!! YUM!!! i ended up eating entire order cleaning my plate (box) and i dont want to move im so full that im thinking of calling into my night job i just want to go home and watch football

and the price is comparable to any of the few places left serving this kinda fare.......but now i dont have to go across town to get my fix!!! since i work next door they will start seeing me often!!!

i think im gonna have me a messikin hamburger (another DENVER CHICANO creation) later this week!!!!!

oh yeah......there is this picture of what looks to be fried ice cream in a crispy bunelo bowl or something that i NEED to...

This place always has the best Mexican food I order something different every time I go and they never disappoint. The staff is always assertive and respectful and the atmosphere is chill.* I am updating this review to explain more in depth on how great this restaurant really is. I took my mom here for her birthday because she loves the food so much. Now before bringing my mom here for her birthday, I wasn't aware that they do special things for you when it's your birthday. I asked the waiter if I can get my mom a Pina colada for her birthday and the waiter said yes, she brought back my mom's drink which was pretty tasty and satisfied my mom. We enjoyed our meal I had a combination plate and my mom had a smothered burrito. When we were getting ready to leave my mom decided to use the restroom. When my mom was away the waiter asked where did she go because they were going to sing happy birthday to her(which I thought was very thoughtful.) Once my mom came back I asked my mom to sit back down and shortly after the waiter came out with some of her staff members and sang happy birthday to my mom. They also put a Sombrero on her and gave her free ice cream with sopapillas. It was the cutest moment for me and they gave my mom the biggest smile. It's moments like these that make a place special and makes you want to come back again and again. Thank you for making this place...

UPDATE! ORIGINALLY 5 STAR...REDUCED TO A 2 STAR SERVICE & FOOD QUALITY REDUCED

In recent visits to Jamie's restaurant, The quality of food (Breakfast) has become substandard. Granted, I ordered breakfast after 11 am however, they advertise breakfast til 4 pm. The cooks do not know how to prepare scrambled eggs, simply poking a hole in the yoke.The bacon is dried out, looks and taste like the day before leftovers. The service on my past two visits were terrible. The most recent visit, the waiter brought out 3 of our 4 meals to our table. I waited to start eating until he returned with my sister's meal. Shockingly, the waiter decided to bring out food to two other tables of larger groups, not serving our last plate until he serviced the other tables, leaving me with cold , improper cooked eggs. Its disappointing that this restaurant, who initially served quality food and service, has deteriorated in quality. Jamie's may have lost a frequent customer, who takes care of the service with an average tip from 30% to 40%. Today, I could not bring myself to even tip for that reason.
