First off, this location wasn’t very welcoming. The employees have an attitude as soon as you walk in. The vibe is very off and they all be staring at you as if you’re inconveniencing them. Second, I ordered the Taro tea and was told they ran out of black tea (even tho one of the employee took it in the back to make more) and I was asked to substitute for the green tea. Minutes after I ordered one of the guy employee comes out with the black tea. I felt like my drink was rushed when made because it tasted like green tea flavored milk tea. There was no hint of taro in the drink. The green tea over powered the drink. It also left a sweetener taste residue in your mouth. It wasn’t pleasant. I’ve have a few taro drinks from different tea shops and this wasn’t it. This was my first time with Kung Fu Tea, and this location gets a 0 from me for first time experience. I will try other locations and hopefully they live up to their name.

Once you get past the hype the place is actually quite good. One of the few boba places where I can choose the level of sugar added to my drink. Since they're new the lines can be a bit much on weekends but worth the wait if you're like me and want something not overly sweet. The boba (tapioca pearls) at all places have sugar in them, the amount of sugar varies but in my experience most places over-sweeten them and this place is no exception but that's made up for by allowing you to choose how much sugar goes into your drink. I personally think going zero sugar in the drink with the sweetened boba is the perfect balance. Especially if you're looking for that bitter note in a jasmine milk tea. Not sure when the hype will settle but it's only one of two places that gets boba right, will come back again when I'm in the area.

Update: I had reluctantly continued to patronize this spot because although they never did change their store setup to be more COVID-proof, they always had plastic barriers up for the staff and required masks in the store. They have now removed the plastic barriers and stopped requiring masks for both employees and patrons.

While their actions are by no means breaking any current health guidelines, it also does nothing to make me feel like this chain cares about its employees, or the fact that COVID still has a death toll.

During much of the pandemic it's been up to businesses to decide they want to care for their employees and the health of the larger community in a meaningful way as health guidelines have often been more lax than what experts recommend. This business has consistently shown that it will do what's legally required and that's it.

I don't see why they would go through all the trouble of taking the plastic barriers down and removing their mask requirement when the pandemic still kills and sickens people regularly, and those are proven prevention measures. Any sound issues or "friendliness factors" are small compared to preventing further spread of severe illness, in my mind.

I want to say all stars remaining are because the staff are always WONDERFUL and make amazing drinks.

Previous review: It hurts my soul to give this place anything less than five stars, because they are absolutely fantastic and make great boba. I am giving them a low score today because they changed how their store is set up for COVID.

Originally they had a great setup, with a podium put right inside the store with one clear line for pickup and one clear line for ordering. It was perfect for limiting the amount of people in the store and made pickup using their app a breeze.

It looks like they have abandoned doing this, going back to how the store originally was, which used to get super packed, especially during peak hours. It is disheartening to see them abandon their safety measures in the middle of a COVID surge. It's also no longer as clear where you go to pick up drinks, so people bunch up in clumps inside the store...

I no longer feel safe shopping here. If the company changes back to their original COVID precautions I'll gladly be back over and over again, and update this...

Good customer service. I wanted to try out a new flavor but my bad, turned out it was too hard for me to drink so they offered to exchange to a different flavor for me. I gave 5 stars. UPDATED: I came here again, at 8:45PM on 28/05/2019, the girl who did the order for me was nice, HOWEVER, the girl who was checking the money (stood next by) was OBNOXIOUSLY RUDE, probably the RUDEST customer service in my life I have ever experienced. (She is skinny and wear quite a make-up.) I asked for 30% sugar because I got that in KungfuTea at Boulder, I thought it's the same here. She almost wanted to fight with me, yelling that NO SUGAR, NO CHANGE, YOU CAN'T CHANGE IT time after time. I told her "It's fine" and moved on with other order but she kept carrying it on. I ordered with another girl, it was not her job to yell at me and you don't do business with that attitude, her facial expression is the WORST thing I have received. If you can't speak nicely to the customers, don't work in retail/food/service shop. Her attitude is extremely ILL-MANNERED and brought the black eye to me of this location. I WILL NOT COME BACK TO KUNGFU TEA HAMPDEN. I wondered why they stop letting people write reviews!?!? If I could give a zero...

Called before arriving to confirm they had non-dairy milk alternatives for people with dairy allergies specifically. Asked multiple times, and even confirmed they had oat milk. When I arrived, I asked multiple times again about non-dairy milk alternatives for dairy allergies while ordering because I didn’t see the options on the menu. Once again confirmed they were going to use oat milk, and even exclaimed out loud directly to their faces that I was surprised that there was no upcharge for the non-dairy oat milk and received nods and “yes!” in response. When I got to my car with my milk teas, I took one sip and was concerned because it was suspiciously creamy. Went back inside to ask what they used for the milk tea. They pull out a jug of Lactaid… then continue to nod and repeatedly insist that they understood me when I explained that Lactaid only removes the sugar called lactose that makes lactose intolerant people sick, but still contains the dairy allergens whey & casein that can kill people with dairy allergies. This is a serious misunderstanding of food safety that could quickly end on actual literal death and should probably be remedied asap. Definitely won’t be back. That was a...
