This review is for the evans location. I'm leaving this here as well since I haven't gotten any response yet from this horrific experience... shows that the owner doesn't care either. I guess they condone this kind of aggressive behavior by their server. What a shame!
Danny, the server, literally harrassed me and my fiance while trying to enjoy a date there but ended up leaving crying because of him. He seemed classist, fatphobic, discriminatory against asians or all of the above. Apparently, the owner is in Mexico, and he thinks it's okay to treat her restaurant like trash. He looked coked out. Or on some other kind of drug. Was aggressive and pushy. Touched my arm multiple times. He also thought it was appropriate to aggressively sit next to my fiance in the booth while we were explaining to the other server what was going on. Blamed me for the plastic in my food, and instead of apologizing, he said that if I wanted extra food, "he got me." It's really unfortunate that he has been a server there for 5 years. Maybe that's why he was so comfortable to speak so aggressively over the table to the point he was spitting saying to look him up on Yelp, basically threatening us to leave a review... clearly, he feels like he is untouchable. Maybe he was too busy flirting with the other table filled with ladies, and that's why he brought us ground beef tacos instead of chicken tacos that we ordered. The ground beef was NOT good. Taco Bell has better ground beef... my fajitas tasted okay. The rice and beans and salsa were good... I can't believe he literally said, "There wasn't any plastic in the food when I brought it out. It's not my fault i dont even make the food....." And now apparently, he's concerned that he looks bad because the kitchen is blaming him. Honestly, that's not my problem. I just wanted to get the food that I ordered. Pay for it and leave. Being from LA, I was really excited that the food was actually good. But Danny literally was so mean I left the place crying. A male coworker had to hold him back because he approached my fiance and left him with no personal space while another female buser that mostly spoke Spanish even agreed with me after the 5th time telling Danny not to speak to me or my fiance anymore, and to step away. He made me feel so uncomfortable and so unsafe that I've never had a server yell at me and blame me for whatever accident happened in the kitchen. I really do not understand how he has been there for 5 years. I know I'm not the only one who has felt that way due to his terrible service. And no, danny, the salsa wasn't hot for the 10th time that you asked. You should know asians can handle spicy food and not to call your customers poor. They should let the bus lady serve she speaks enough english and doesn't have smelly breath like danny did. He should stay freshened up if he wants to talk over the table and get so close to you. Also, no customers mean no job, danny boy. Also, the hostess deserves a raise. She...
Read moreI've been dining at La Fogata since the late 90's, starting with the establishment on Evans, to the now Tamarac location. Today, my family and I left the Tamarac location deflated, and quite frankly feeling snubbed. What was supposed to be a continuation of a great day, ended with us leaving with the understanding that the nostalgia I once felt for this establishment was no more. Upon arrival, our server displayed an attitude like he already didn't want to serve us. When asked what we wanted to drink, I asked for iced tea, and when my beverage was returned I asked for sugar, he said, "huh" twice, so as a bi-lingual speaker, I politely and with a smile, said azúcar to which he acknowledged and went to get it. my husband ordered fajitas, me, the super nachos, and for my son, chicken quesadillas, with guacamole as an appetizer. My husband recieved 2 flour tortillas, to which we flagged him down and asked for more tortillas, and a refill on my son's drink. At no point during our dining experience, did our server voluntarily ask if we needed anything. A woman came by toward the end and asked if we needed anything, and I asked for 3 boxes, which we never were given. To add insult to injury, there was a pesky fly, that kept buzzing around us that we had to keep fanning away the whole time we were there. When I again, flagged our designated server to ask for the check, he meandered around taking other orders, filling water for other patrons, got the check for another table, and after dropping off the other tables check, glanced over, and I again asked for our check.
After paying, I mentioned my disappointment to the greeter before leaving, to which she seemed truly apologetic, and I appreciated her empathy.
Its been a while since I've left somewhere, and genuinely felt heated anger, which is what I felt. I was annoyed that this establishment had my hard earned money, that I left highly dissatisfied, and that this person treated us as if we were less than.
Good luck to La Fogata, may your campfire burn well, I've had a lot of good memories here, but you'll never see another...
Read moreWe came here for my birthday tonight because we heard so many good things and the reviews were great. We waited for a table outside because it was more quiet than inside. So busy! We thought the food would have to be worth it. We had two waiters, I'll call them #1 and #2 since they didn't give us their names. It only took a minute for #1 to ask us for our drinks. I, pregnant, my husband (no longer a drinking man,) my our 13 year old ordered sodas. #1 brought our sodas and about 3 minutes later #2 asked us for our order. We weren't ready yet so he said he'd come right back. A couple minutes later we were ready and stacked our menus so #1 and #2 would see that we were ready. Waiting......waiting.....waiting.
We watched others pay their bills and leave. New customers were seated, ordered drinks and even ordered food. Probably 3 tables were seated, gotten drinks and orders taken and we were still sitting; waiting to have our orders taken. I raised my hand, tried to wave down server #1 or #2. They both walked past us over and over and over. Wouldn't even look our way. My husband said, "If they take one more order before ours we are leaving."
The only noticeable difference between us and everyone else on the patio was that we didn't order "drinks," only sodas. Maybe because none of us are drinkers they thought we would be cheapo's that didn't tip well or order much.
After about 20 minutes we got up and left, the gate on the patio is open so we walked right out the gate. We weren't even to the end of the gate or off the sidewalk before #1 was clearing our soda glasses off the table and wiping it down for the next round of guests.
Between waiting for our seats and waiting to order, we were there for about an hour. We took our business to another restaurant that gladly took our money and we left them a generous tip. Needless to say we will not be returning. We were looking forward to the great food we had heard so much about....an absolutely disappointing and...
