0 stars for the 5/17 and 5/23 cashier, otherwise 5 stars.
La Rumba has a great vibe and the Club has been a great place to have fun dancing. The staff has always been welcoming and helpful and the place resembles a community.
Last Saturday I came early and expected to pay $15, based on the information that was posted online, but the person taking the money that evening charged me $20 and only shrugged her shoulders when I asked and said something about attending the dance class while running my credit card for $20. I was going to let it go until the next person was charged only $15, which upset me and I asked for my money back, which she refused to do.
Talking to Veronica, the manager, she mentioned that she just addressed all the wrong information posted online with her web person and she refunded me the charge to the card without hesitation and a big smile. She was so pleasant and I thought all was good until yesterday.
Yesterday, I went to LaRumba and on my way out, I asked the same cashier what the pricing would be for the following night, she told me she didn’t know and I just said, “oh, you only work here, right?” since as a cashier she should know the pricing. I went to the bar instead and was told that it would be $10 for admission and $15 with class, which by the way is still different from the information online. On my way out that cashier told me that I am the rudest person as I was walking by and then all of a sudden started yelling at me, getting off her chair and then following me to the door, screaming after me “not to show my face again,” telling me, that she would be working tomorrow and that “I am not welcome” and she would make sure “I would not be allowed to enter the Club.”I was so shocked by her outburst so I just kept walking. This was so disturbing and in any other situation, she would have been fired on the spot, but none of the security guards around seemed to have noticed her tantrum, maybe because the music was so it loud? However, the security guard right outside the door was so confused by her screaming, he came up to me and asked me what was going on. After I explained he didn’t know what to do and just walked away. I only wonder if I would have been able to get away with such a hostile outburst without security being all over me? Also, it is puzzling that the person’s perception of me “being the rudest person”, because I was upset being overcharged and I dared to ask a question, would warrant such a hostile reaction?
I love going to LaRumba, but I am definitely not going back to LaRumba on a Saturday, since I don’t want to expose myself to further hostility at a place I am hoping to relax and have fun dancing and I cannot be sure if this kind of behavior from employees is tolerated or not.
I left a message for a call back on the general manager’s line last night and I followed up with an email last night, but did not hear back anything, so my only recourse at this point is to post this and maybe I hear back from someone to figure out how to avoid dealing with this person...

I told her that i am not paying this amount i am leaving! The man near the door get physical: he push me and stopped me from walking out( i should've called 911 THERE!) He try to scare me with the police! They had their own "police/officer" in the club😈👀 I went to the gard and completely resonably explain that i will not pay;because i didn't actually stay there. There was a man who almost let me go; but a "police" lady wanted to proove her power: she rudely said: "you stay 20 min here so you must PAY" ! The LEVEL of rudeness was growing in this people! So i of course just paid but, while i signed my receipt, i requested the name of the Rude girl on the cash machine! The rude girl instead of answer me: asked my name! I told her Yoana T**! She ignored my question. I told her i will write a review with my experience. VERONICA! SHE SHOUTED! Then the "police" lady who were her crime partner in humiliation; interrupt:"You better behave YOURSELF!" She try to scare me with her badge and tone!. I said:" Mam i am actually going to share my experience on the web!" The point is not paying or NOT! Read moreI’ve been coming to this place for over four years. Recently they’ve got new promoters, and the prices have increased extremely. $20-$30 which is outrageous when it used to be $10. They’re trying to turn it into a nightclub, which I totally understand but this used to be a place where you could actually go and Latin dance and now you can’t. Yes they have free parking lot but all the lights are off, even though they have security it’s a little sketchy to walk back there. I never see the security in the parking lot anyways.
Every time you walk into this place, no matter what day it is it smell like sewage, only saving grace is when the attendants are in the restroom They spray it so it smells a lot better. I’m taking classes by all their instructors and they have some really great instructors, but they also have some really rude instructors. We came to a class on a Tuesday night salsa class. It was an older gentleman and his wife teaching, and there was a variety of tenured dancers. The dance instructor kept saying how this wouldn’t be the right class for new people to join. But little did he know that we’ve been dancing and this was a perfect class for us. We just have never been to his class and will never return after the way he treated us.
Also, there is a gentleman who teaches Cumbia and he was recording on a weekend evening while we were dancing and he didn’t even ask our permission. And when we approached him, he was so rude. We asked him if he would not post our video because he didn’t have our permission And he said yes. But the way that he responded was very unprofessional. I understand that these places want to build up their clientele by posting videos, but some people don’t want to be posted on your social media or...
