Out of Necessities! Pros: Nice environment in cozy location. My tea was good. Cons: Service and cleanliness. I wondered if this place was going out of business based on the lack of items available, the disrepair of tables, and the overflowing garbage. Roostercat Coffee said is open until midnight. My friend and I were there at about 9:30 pm. The place was full. My friend ordered an espresso. She was told that they were out of espresso mugs and was given a giant paper cup with her shot of espresso at the bottom. She asked for sugar and was told there was no sugar, just Splenda...seems odd for a coffee shop. I initially ordered black tea, but was told they were out of black tea, so I subbed for green tea. I asked for honey - and was told they didn't have honey. When we went to sit, the first two tables we chose were dirty or in disrepair. When we finished our drinks and prepared to leave, we found the garbage cans overflowing and ended up leaving our cups at our table because there was no where else to put them. Meanwhile, the barista stood behind the counter with her head phones on scrolling through her phone. My impression - either the barista doesn't have great work ethic or customer service skills or the place was understaffed and she couldn't to leave the front counter to restock or take the garbage back. I bet there were dirty espresso mugs that needed to be washed in the back and their was sugar and honey in the back that needed to be restocked. Not impressed and I...
Read moreCANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD ABOUT THIS PLACE!!! Not only are they a stylish, cosy, and fun place to get a really good drink, they are incredibly helpful!
Delicious coffee, and loads of syrup flavours locally handmade! I recommend the rose mocha, or the mojito italian soda! Lots of vegan friendly options in both their drink menu and food. Their baked goods are divine as well!
But best of all is how they helped me out in a pinch! I was meant to be having an interview via Zoom and I totally miscalculated the time (I am visiting from overseas and didn't get my time zones lined up correctly). Indoor noises were too loud for the interviewee, and outdoor the music was too much as well. I asked if they could turn the music off for a little while, and although they couldn't oblige, one of the baristas suddenly suggested the CONFERENCE ROOM IN THE BACK!
These absolute angels let me use their conference room for free for TWO entire hours!!! The conference room is beautiful, cool, clean, professional, and above all QUIET (even with a busy road right outside and a busy coffee shop right next door)! I think the table could probably sit about ten people if they weren't practicing social distancing. I didn't use it, but I think they even have a good tech set up for things like presentations.
Needless to say, I tipped generously and I have come back SEVERAL times to meet people and introduce them to this absolute gem of a venue. A hundred thousand stars for...
Read moreMy old coffee shop near me shut down a few months ago and I had my reservations about changing my local haunt. I am pretty particular when it comes to my beans and, having worked as a barista myself in a former life, can see through the smoke and mirrors of some establishments before the espresso even starts to drip.
A couple months (and a lot of caffeine) later, I can safely say this is one of the best places in town to get your morning kick. They have a wide variety of interesting flavor combinations for the adventurous, but have the basics down solid for those with a more traditional palette. Speaking of, their “best breakfast sandwich” isn’t hyperbole, it really is the best I’ve had in a while. They salute local artists and artisans for much of their aesthetics and bakery offerings, so no need to worry about the trappings of corporate glut just for profit margins.
It isn’t easy to run a coffee place smoothly and reliably, but I can always depend on this spot on my friends having a good experience when they are in town.
Lastly, I find that all of the employees at are not just kind and considerate, but also very good at what...
