Liks Ice Cream — Restaurant in Denver

We went to try out liks tonight over our usual favorite spot. it was very busy (as expected for a Beautiful summer Sunday evening). First, the service my girlfriend and I received was awful, the blonde kid who helped us clearly didn't want to be there and his attitude showed it. We ordered ice cream in a waffle cone to which we were told "we're out" (out of the main thing you put Ice cream in) he didn't offer any other options, simply stood and waited for us to come up with something else on our own. Finally we got two cups of ice cream, similar to another review we stood at the register while all the other employees ignored us and rung up their customers, finally we paid and the same employee who helped us rung us up. The way he gave me the price and our change was so monotone and depressing it could have been straight out of a movie Scene, it made my girlfriend laugh out loud because she couldn't believe this kids attitude. I almost never write reviews, and 99% of the time I never complain and just eat whatever I get. But with the experience we had I will never be back. OVERALL: service was terrible, that is a fact. Today I visited the Liks ice cream and asked for a Banana spilt. As she was made me a banana split using her bare hands she used to manager other costumers, money and equipment. I’ve never been to a place where they place everything with there bare hands without gloves OR WASHING YOUR HANDS while just to make things better she dropped the Banana multiple times on the counter. On top of that , the young woman with blonde hair I had asked her what “ Kayla?” name was and she said “ ummmm like , why? are you gonna leave a bad review or something?like i don’t know if I’m even supposed to do that.” And I asked her to tell me what the other woman’s name was and she rolled her eyes at me and lied to my face and told me her name was Hannah. I could just see on her face she was lying, so I stayed there till I knew the other lady’s name . Honestly horrible service and poor sanitary. In a city filled with lots of good ice cream it's hard to stand out. That's what's so nice about Liks though. They are like an old friend. You don't necessarily expect them to stand out. You expect them to be dependable, honest to you, and good for the soul. And when they do stand out, it makes you feel special that you know them. Liks is all that and cone full of ice cream. Bonnie Brae set the standard in town for the go to ice cream place back in the day. I still highly recommend a visit there as well. But Liks took it that extra mile and was the first I can recall to start experimenting with the off the wall flavors. First it was the Cheeseman Cheesecake flavor. A must try. And then there is peach. Which has a special place in any locals heart because of the Palisade peaches. Wait for it in July or August. And get it with the blueberry if you can.
