I ordered two açaí bowls online and quickly realized I made a mistake by selecting whey protein, which contains dairy, even though I chose soy milk for the base for a reason.. I’m allergic to dairy. I called the location right away, hoping they could swap out the whey for a dairy-free protein. The woman who answered (who I assumed was the owner based on her answering and saying she wasn’t currently at the store), said the bowls had already been made and suggested I just give them to a friend.
I completely own that the mistake was mine, I’m not asking for special treatment, just a little understanding. The interaction could’ve gone a long way if it was handled with any flexibility or empathy of the situation. I wasn’t expecting a refund, just hoping for a solution that wouldn’t waste food or leave someone with a known allergy without a safe option.
