What a disappointment.
Despite having a big gyro cone, they served greasy minced cuttings from a water warmed tray without even a hint of char on them. They had diced white onions instead of slices of red onions as a topping, plus some sad pickled jalapenos, diced green peppers, canned black olives, and some strangely cut tomatoes. Not a cucumber in sight, and no French fries included in the gyro sandwich... a rather odd choice for a "street food" style gyro.
Even the sauce choices were bizarre: an American style barbeque, a (surprisingly spicy) hot sauce, and unseasoned mayonnaise from a squirt bottle. Seriously, no tzatziki?! Not even some dill, cucumber, or garlic in the mayonnaise?
It felt like a hot dog stand that started selling halal gyros... It might have been a really cool and interesting food cart in 1990s NYC, but it makes for a depressing chain restaurant 30 years later in Denver.
The good: the hot sauce and that they're actually certified halal
The bad: literally everything else, from the food to the presentation to the befuddled look on the employee's face when I asked if they at least had some tahini
The ugly: they did, in...
Read moreWent to Halal guys with my picky teenagers. They are normally chicken tender and fries kids but they were willing to try Halal guys. Service was great, they answered questions about the dishes and we got the popular beef platter. I like spicy so they recommended the red sauce and warned me it was quite spicy. Listen, I’m Asian so spicy is like Thai chili peppers. But they were not wrong this red sauce is spicy but the good kind where I want to add more!
The white sauce I thought would be too much but it paired so well with the favored beef and spicy sauce. Pita was great to help the spicy heat lol! I really liked the yellow rice too (good texture and flavor) It was quite a large portion and we had leftovers to take home.
The teens loved it and we looked they have another location close to us and they’re on DoorDash too! We also tried the hummus (omg add the red spicy sauce to this too) and the chocolate chip cookies (warm and melted chips)
Btw I saw someone else order the sandwich and they added fries into the pita! Why didn’t I order the fries...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to try Halal Guys in Northfield, CO. I was blown away by how good the food was! I ordered the classic combo platter, which comes with chicken or beef over rice, topped with your choice of sauces (white sauce, hot sauce, or both). I also added a side of falafel.
The chicken and beef were both incredibly tender and flavorful, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The sauces were also delicious, and they added a nice kick of heat to the dish. The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and it was perfectly seasoned.
I also really appreciated the friendly and efficient service! The staff was quick to take my order and to prepare my meal, and they were very helpful in answering my many questions.
Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Halal Guys. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable meal that will definitely...
