Part of what we do is teach gig work strategy to gig workers, and that will usually involve actually doing the work. We also keep an eye out for places folks in our community should avoid (at least until they get their stuff together). Typically, this will come down to common issues we deal with in the gig space for food pickups, such as merchants who feel like we're the ones lower on the totem pole they can kick around (places that literally treat us like adult-sized children who can't read, write, or reason), places with slow pickups, and obviously just outright rude spots you're just better off leaving to manage customer deliveries without our help.

Well, this place has pretty good wait times, I'll give that to them. But they're super guilty of the other two; at least the half-dozen (no pun intended) or so times someone from the G2R team has picked up from them. Particularly to the founder of the company, which had already happened a number of times to date.

Sometimes, these restaurants get into the bad habit of projecting people treating them like the help onto us. They'll act out on, talk down to, or even sometimes infantilize us when we're there. Talk about us behind the counter, ignore us while we wait (usually watching them behave normally to "real" customers while doing so), or just generally treat us like we're in their way -- forgetting that we not only provide a valuable service, but one that pays us enough to eat there, too, as day-to-day customers.

We've had neutral interactions there, as well, and we've rarely had to wait very long to grab our orders, but we've also repeatedly had to deal with the above, as well.

So as part of our service to the G2R community, as always, it's important for us to kind of point these places out. And there are lots of trains for these types of interactions, many of them resolvable and fixable. Sometimes, owners and managers just never really got used to having to deal or interact with us, having been thrust into our layer of service interaction during the Pandemic and never getting time to "catch up", intellectually. Either way, it's also important for us to maintain the basic respect and dignity that the gig community deserves, and that does require growth and change of attitudes.
