I was recently given a gift certificate to The Woodhouse Day Spa and decided to enjoy a "Duet Massage" and invited a friend along. Everyone we spoke to about it leading up to our massage were envious, letting us know The Woodhouse is their favorite spa, and walking in, it's easy to see why. The exterior of the spa is breathtaking and well kept, being a renovated house build in 1889 for one of Colorado's Senators. A welcoming seating area is the first thing you see, followed by an attentive and cheerful receptionist. My friend and I ended up arriving almost an hour early, which the receptionist explained was absolutely no problem, that she would rather us be early than late. Check in was easy and we were offered a complimentary beverage of wine, champagne, mimosa, etc. I had the champagne which was sweet and crisp, and my friend had the mimosa, even remarking it was one of the best she'd ever had. After filling out our first time guest form, we were shown upstairs to a changing room and offered a complimentary robe to use for our visit as well as sandals. Lockers are provided to keep your belongings safe while you're being pampered, and if you don't want to change in the changing room they have a private changing room option as well. My only concern about the robes is I felt slightly uncomfortable as they seem to be "one size fits all" which isn't too comfortable if you're anything more than a medium. Once my friend and I were changed and ready we were shown to a relaxation room which boasted tea, snacks, soft music, and beautiful antique furniture. We were able to sit and relax there while waiting for our massage and just chat and catch up. Our massage therapists were prompt and greeted us with friendly smiles, introducing themselves to us before leading us upstairs to our massage room. Decadent does not even begin to describe the private room we were given. There were two massage beds impeccably made with deep purple sheets, a seating area, and counters to put your drink if needed. I had the pleasure of receiving a massage from Adam and my friend's therapist was Audra. Both asked us if we had any requests, any areas we wanted worked on specifically or areas to avoid, how we liked our pressure, etc. They both left the room to give us a moment of privacy to disrobe and climb into bed. For the next 50 minutes I felt like I was in heaven, and I just wish I could have taken Adam home with me! I had told him to do whatever he wanted but to go easy on my right knee due to an injury from a couple weeks ago, and he paid particular attention to working the knots out of my back, which was almost enough to put me to sleep. As requested when he got to my knee he eased up on the pressure, taking care to not cause me any discomfort. My friend told me that Audra paid attention to everything she'd specified and that the massage was incredibly relaxing and well worth the visit. After the massage, our therapists stepped outside so we could slip back into our robes. When we were ready, we opened the door and they were waiting there with a glass of cool water, then Adam invited us to follow him back downstairs to the changing room. Complimentary showers are provided, as is a comb and blow dryer so you can freshen up before heading back out into the real world! Check out was a breeze, with the option of leaving gratuity on your card or in cash and they were more than accommodating as far as my gift certificate then splitting the rest up between my friend and I. They offer the products that are used in their facials, as well as a few more boutique items, tea to purchase, etc. It is absolutely easy to see why The Woodhouse Day Spa is on the list of favorite spas in the Denver area! You get what you pay for and the service is exceptional! I'm looking forward...
Read moreToday was my first visit to Woodhouse day spa in Denver. I was very excited to receive a gift certificate to this spa for Christmas as I truly needed some self care time after working a very busy holiday season at my job and I had heard wonderful things about the place. I chose the Woodhouse signature pedicure as I am on my feet a lot and they needed the most TLC. I was looking forward to a most luxurious pedicure. When I arrived to check in I was told to pick a color and wait for my provider. I had to ask for a water after I arrived, and also where the bathroom was located. I was not offered the option of a robe which was kind of a bummer since I had leggings on. My provider was quite nice and not too talkative until it got to the massage part. Which is the part I like to close my eyes and truly enjoy. I felt she rushed through the stone massage as she told me about some exciting things in her life. Which is lovely and she was lovely but I feel her attention was not on me and I’d say the stone part lasted only a few mins total even with the little rock’s they put between your toes. She dropped one of the big rocks on the the floor while giving me the stone massage which is the reason I suspect she didn’t continue? All in all it was a nice pedicure but it was only a 60 minute experience rather than 90 mins as shown on the website. The pedi space is only 4 chairs which is more private than other salons so that’s a perk, but all in all, I feel I’ve received the same service if not better at a typical nail salon. At less than half the price. When I addressed the time issue they spoke with my provider and then I was told that it’s because I didn’t have many callouses and that is why it went quicker than the time I had booked. I said that I felt shorted, particularly on the massage part. The very young woman working the counter’s exact words were “sorry that’s all I can tell you” as she shrugged. I still left a tip but way less than I would normally. And I won’t be receiving a pedicure again at a spa as it didn’t feel like a...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! I visit the Wood House Spa about two times a year when I visit my daughter for the past 5 years, I currently live in California. I have always raved about my time at this spa and wish I had one of these at home, my daughter has too. Sadly my 2 recent visits have been more obnoxious then enjoyable. My last visit in January I felt like the older woman at the reception desk was being very pushy with selling me products that were left for me my facialist. I told the woman I did not live in state but she insisted I buy the products to have my daughter ship them to me later. I let this go being as this had never happened to me before at this spa. I was visiting Colorado again this past week and this same older woman was at the reception desk. In the past we have always been acknowledged right away not this time.My daughter and I walked up to the reception area only to be ignored, where these two woman were standing discussing how the other got pregnant and who the father was! I was so disgusted as was my daughter for obvious reasons. I felt very uncomfortable to the point of almost walking out the front door I now wish I would have listened to my gut. I am not sure what the older woman's role is at this business exactly she may possibly be a supervisor by the way she interacted with other employees that I saw I cannot remember what her name badge said exactly maybe Crystal? I do not plan on figuring out the details as we will never visit this establishment again we are on the hunt for a spa to pamper us on my next visit. To pay hundreds of dollars to leave feeling so upset is unforgivable, I have never felt so compelled to write something bad yet brutally truthfull about a business as I did from this moment as I understand everyone has that bad day from time to time but to have 2 bad and awkward experiences in 6 months while spending upwards of $500 for my daughter and myself is unacceptable. The old house is very beautiful, but the customer service is far...
