Family member works there so I drove 2 miles, out of my way to visit him and grab a slice of pizza. I'm a huge pizza connoisseur and figured, let me try them. Ordered a quick slice and they popped it in the oven. Probably should have mentioned, after a couple of minutes, the temperature of the slice was great. They waited on clients while it was in the oven. FINALLY she pulled out of the oven, said out loud how hot it was put it in the bag. Paid and left. The slice was the epitome of a piece of cardboard, cheese was burnt, crust was rock hard, inedible and it was absolutely disgusting. Was disappointed because I hadn't had a slice of pizza in 6 weeks because of fasting and all I wanted was a dripping, fresh slice with melted cheese. Maggios has lost a long time customer tonight. They used to be my favorite place but the food went down hill while it seemed like the prices went up. I have given them enough chances to see a well below average trend. Tonight my penne pasta vodka came in soup form, while the cheesesteak was dry and slightly flavorless. Also ordered the steak with extra cheese and it barely had any at all. Some other mistakes in the recent past include missing items on more than one occasion, under cooked and over cooked pie, side salads made up of old lettuce, and cheesesteaks with skimpy amounts of meat (like tonight). Been wanting to try here for a few years. Finally took the plunge today. Staff was friendly. Place seemed nice. But the bottoms of my slices where covered in charred dust like the oven was in dire need of cleaning. So a lot of my pizza just tasted burnt. A few minutes after sitting down with my slices, I saw the pizza maker scraping inside the oven. So perhaps just unfortunate timing. Slices would have been fine if not for the need to clean the oven before my slices went in. Doubt I will return. Giving it a 3 because I think I would have enjoyed it without the oven issue.
