To preface, my expectation is that a specialty restaurant should excel in making a dish better than if I just made it myself. For Emperor's, Mongolian Beef was disappointing. The beef has no tenderized velveting treatment, resulting in bland burnt overcooked flat tough chewy curls that resemble flat tire patches. The onions were just chunked up dices.
Iām accustomed to getting flank steak with white onion julienne cuts and a brown sugar dark/light soy base, garlic, ginger, with some tianjin red pepper. Hot fresh and appetizing. This was just plain fried sadness in dish water.
Sauce consisted of some gray water oily gravy concoction. I guess this place really takes a really loose interpretation with inclusion of mushrooms as well. Also, between three different entree choices, all had similar look and presentation with barely any distinction between any of them. A restaurant is free to make their choices but if I have to ask myself āwhat is this?ā, the interpretation is lost.
Egg rolls and crab Rangoon were most redeeming option. For around $70, this was not something Iād consider again. Came with two sauces, no soy or cutlery if staying at hotel. Carry out was ready...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy two sons and I came here around 6 o'clock on a Saturday night. For such a small looking place from the outside, there is a good amount of seating inside, and it was very clean and I liked the look of the place. My youngest really liked the artwork on the walls.
My sons ordered a Hibachi Beef, and the other the General Chicken, I had the Teriyaki Chicken. We all tried a little from each other's plates and liked all three dishes, the portion amount was also perfect, not too much, not too little. I highly suggest the Teriyaki Chicken, it is fantastic, we all three agreed it was the best of the bunch.
I don't live in Derby, but we are often in the area and I have passed this place many times, this was the first time I actually gave the place a try. I am very glad I did! This is a great place, highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreworst fried rice ive ever had in my life. Search my reviews. Ive never said that before. When you choose chicken, beef, or shrimp fried rice, its not mixed into the rice during preparation. Its just lazily plopped on top after its already in the styrofoam. the calamari was nice to see on the menu but it was obviously barely edible and didnt finish anything I ordered today. The rice is impressively flavorless and miserable. It looks like its tossed with parsley and maybe butter? Insanely bad food. There isnt even the prescence of salt or soy sauce in any way. I dont know how theyre making this. Its awful. The rice is bloated and frail. This food made me depressed. I will...
