Hog Wild Pit Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Derby

After hearing some promos about winning Hog Wild for the big game coming up, I was looking forward to grabbing some of my own between NFL Championship games today. I'll begin by saying that I have always maintained that Hog Wild is as good as any barbeque joint that I have been to in KC, Texas, or Memphis. That being said, tonight's meal was not the best that I have had from the franchise. My Smokestack favorite, usually overflowing with brisket and links, seemed a little thin on meat - and neither of the meats had the same quality that I expect. On the plus side, I always get and individual rib because I believe that HW does a great job on their ribs. Happily, it didn't disappoint. Overall, still a great place to grab some great BBQ when you can't plan your own backyard feast. But, there is a lot of competition for dinner dollars today. Consistency is key. If I could give less than one star I would. I pre-ordered food for Christmas over a week ago at this location. I talked to two separate associates on the phone because the 2nd person wanted to make sure the 1st person had the order correct. Got everything correct, confirmed the name for pickup and my phone number. My husband gets up today to go pick up our order and they “don’t have it”. After “looking” for my order they tell my husband they can make the order but it won’t be cold packed, like I requested, and they don’t have any cobblers so we won’t get one. At no time did anyone offer an apology or any thing to attempt to make their error correct. I will never use this business for any of my future catering needs. And there was another couple there at the time who had the exact same thing...

UPDATE: The GM reached out to me regarding my experience, so I’m changing my rating. Everyone deserves another chance and I appreciate when a business is willing to hear when things go wrong.

Horrible. Ordered 2 lbs. of meat.. Got back home (in another town) to find that we got no sauce. Called up to the store and was offered a free dessert. Was told that the sauce is free so they couldn’t give me any refund.. That would be like ordering a drink with no ice.. Who wants a warm drink? NO ONE! The sauce is what makes the WHOLE meal! Had 6 people to eat 2 lbs of dry meat. Going back to the store wasn’t an option, so had to go to Doller General to grab some BBQ sauce. Will not be visiting this...
