I’ve been coming to this location for a few years as it’s close to the hospital. Service has always been hit or miss (50/50 at best) when it comes to getting your order correct or shorting you on fries, which is especially annoying given the current prices. A medium fry is now $4, and every add-on in the app is now an up-charge (as of 2023), even just adding lettuce. For this reason, I don’t recommend ever using the drive through if you have anything other than a basic order, as it’s not worth having to immediately open the bag/wrapper in the car and then park and come in to get it corrected. The app deals have also been slashed as of 2023, with each deal only saving 2-3 dollars max. Cookies are $1 each. All combos are now $10-15, and gone are the “free large fry with a $2 purchase” deal they had for years.
Speaking of coming in: this was the first time I came inside since the March 2024 remodel. The restaurant is now nothing but seating, along with two order touch screens and a pickup shelf (like at Chipotle). There are no longer any drink machines, meaning no refills on soda or tea. There is now just a single unstaffed register in front of a blank wall; they even removed the menu on the wall in order to force people to the touchscreens. You will not see any employees when walking in as the staff are completely hidden behind another wall, making it very easy to ignore customers. They simply drop off bags onto the shelf, then immediately retreat back behind the wall, making it very hard to ask for anything (such as condiments). I witnessed customer after customer waiting for 5-10 minutes at a time for help at the shelf in order to get something corrected, or to get something as simple as a fork or some ketchup, which the restaurant strangely refuses to keep out in the dining area. The wifi is also a lot worse since the remodel for some reason. In the time I was typing this, I got disconnected at least 10 times, and while connected, the service was too poor to maintain a video feed without buffering every few minutes (if it loaded at all).
Beside the unstaffed register is a small counter with only salt/pepper, napkins, and straws. It also has a ketchup pump, which was empty/not working. The ketchup pumps at this location have never worked in all the years I’ve come here, and I’ve always wondered why McDonald’s can’t just put packets out in the dining area like any other restaurant, or simply fill/maintain their pumps (like Five Guys). This problem has been made worse as you’re now forced to wait at the shelf to catch an employee dropping off another order to get any condiments, as none are ever provided in the bag.
While I’ve never expected an amazing dining experience out of McDonald’s, I, like most others, have always come here anyway for two reasons: convenience, and cheap food. Unfortunately, the restaurant now provides neither. I don’t think I’ll be back until prices come back down, if they ever do. It’s just not...
Read moreI wish I could give this place zero stars!! And it's not for the food. What you eat here is the same stuff all over the world. The bad rating is deserved for the horrible customer service I received this morning. I've eaten here a few times before and have always had this same issue but never really cared until now. If you go to the McDonald's in Hummelstown you'll notice that on the menu board it states that two apple pies cost $1.49 yet everyone who orders are charged $1.98. Now, in any retail establishment or food service provider, by law, whatever your menu says the price is, that's what the customer pays. It's not the customers fault if the menu board is wrong. If it's wrong, then change it.
So I mentioned this to the person taking the order. They said no, I was wrong. I again said what the menu board reads, again, they said I was wrong. They told me it was an old price. My next question was then why hasn't it been changed to the correct price? Her reply was "Oh my God, you're not getting it for $1.49 It's $1.98" Then this horrible woman started to literally yell at me through the order box. So then I go up to pay. The lady taking the payments was as cold as could be. No "good morning", nothing. I then get only half my order. I had to wait another 20 minutes for the stupid apple pies. They weren't even ready. Had I been told this, I would not have ordered them as this was making me late for work.
So all in all, if you go there, be prepared to get ripped off. And they don't care one bit about it!!! If the prices are listed wrong, then fix them!!! Don't rip off your customers on a daily basis!!! The customer service in the Hummelstown, PA McDonald's is...
Read moreI have multiple complaints about our visit. First off they messed our order up which isn't that big of a deal, but the way the manager yelled at the person who took our order with an intellectual disability like it was his fault even though the order was correct the sandwiches even where tagged with the special tags but on the incorrect items and it was the people working on the prep line that made the mistakes in this incident. Second while I was waiting on our food to be corrected I took notice to an employee who was working on the prep line. She did have rubber gloves on but she also had her cell phone in hand while handling food. I asked to speak to a manager and when I brought it to her attention all she did was say something to the employee (who also appeared to be management) but didn't do anything about it. The employee then continued to make food without washing her hands or removing her phone from the prep station or replacing the gloves that were handling her cell phone. After finishing our meal with the smell of urine in the facility due to a customer that urinated in his seat which permeated the entire store and all they did was put a wet floor sign down and not even make an attempt to mop it up, the cell phone was still sitting on the prep counter. The management staff at this store is very far lacking of what anyone would expect to find in a place that serves food to...
