Royal Buffet — Restaurant in Desloge

Dollar to quality ratio is low. This is based on food that is somehow not fresh during peak dinner hours and a hostess that is unfriendly. They also were inaccurate on our order. We ordered a pint of S&S chicken and they sold us a quart. We ordered a kids buffet and they didn't ask ages and just assigned a price. So be careful to watch the receipt. Back to the food quality, I had to get 2 or 3 plates worth to get 1 plate of food I felt was fresh enough to eat. Maybe this is why it's expensive (lots of waste). I've been here twice and this time was worse than the first, but both times finding fresh food was a challenge.

In summary, they need a little more quality control on keeping the buffet fresh. The hostess could use a little more courtesy and hospitality in her service. After all, the customer is paying the restaurant money. I'd think this should at least in part, make those running the restaurant happy to have the paying guest. I’ve been to Royal Buffet a few times and hadn’t had one bad thing to say until recently. I had gotten up and went to the buffet and one of the owners was screaming at a little girl (I’m assuming the young man’s little sister). I ignored it then sat back down with my family. As I was getting ready to leave I decided to use the restroom and the first stall when I walked in had a lock on the door but no hole in the other part of the stall to keep the door closed. So I had no choice but to use the big stall (the only stall that would lock). As I looked around the bathroom I noticed they had cardboard stuffed in the fan in the ceiling. I'm usually pretty open and try to find something I like about restaurants I go to instead of being negative however every thing I ate here tasted old and dried out or wet. For 30$ for two people I expected it to be better. I desperately tried to find something I liked and the only thing I liked was even though there was one waiter, she was amazing at waiting on everyone. But the only food I liked was the potatoes and General Tao chicken. I tried a little bit of everything and it was all gross- felt like a lot of food didn't belong with each other like crab and cheese. I'm pretty sure the crab Rangoon didn't even have crab in it.
