Krab Kingz — Restaurant in DeSoto

UPDATE excellent I wrote the previous review months ago and decided to re-visit Krab Kingz on 4/10/2021. It may look like your regular boil crab seafood place but KKD is anything but. I ordered the seafood platter with shrimp and crabs and all the other side pieces that make them KINGZ. The potatoes are little buttery bombs of goodness. The egg, let me say this, surely they're getting those eggs from a golden HEN because let me tell you, it's the best part of the platter. I like spicy food but the spices are not overbearing on the seafood and don't require CPR after eating. EVERYTHING on my Styrofoam plate exceeded my expectations. Oh and may I add the ladies behind the counter are totally different from youth that worked there previously and it's made all the difference for me. Sincerely, Desoto Resident

Hello, The food at Krab Kingz in Desoto is awesome! However, they really need to have someone with better customer service answering the phone. We constantly patronize this business because the food is really good and plentiful. On each occasion we've spent close to $50 and it was well worth it. But it appears phone etiquette is not a part of training for this establishment. We ordered take out on 5/1 and again today and the young lady who answered the phone was horrible. When a customer says thank you, the response should be, you're welcome NOT uh-huh. Thank you is a phrase of appreciation. You're welcome is a response given after someone thanks you! I value where I spend my money, and after today, we will...

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but my experience in the food industry stopped me. I placed a phone order for the Seafood Pasta (crab, lobster, crawfish, shrimp) added sausage. This came up to $35 and was due to be ready in 15-20 minutes. It was a pleasant surprise to get a call 13 minutes later the my order was ready for pickup. Got my phone with minimal wait. Got home to find NO seafood anywhere in there. Instead it was chicken and sausage. A dish that would've cost $16!

Call them, they apologized and said they'll make me another one. I drive back up there and show them the dish lacking any seafood. I explained I had a few bites looking for the seafood. They turned and gave the chef the open container explaining the delimma. He had an expression of what did they want him to do? He takes my food back in the kitchen.

I asked the cashier what were they going to do with the food from the wrong order. I asked if the chef was going to just add in the seafood. They said, "Someone back there will eat it." I repeated I ate out of it already. I explained instead of throwing it out I could take it. Another cashier said, "Someone will probably eat it for lunch." I'm like, Are you serious! They gave me a fresh order of my Seafood pasta and that was that!

This was very unorthodox and very surprising. Please check your food before leaving and bless it for germs before eating it.

Krab Kingz is the real deal for seafood and Cajun food south of Dallas. Their portions are awesome, and while the wait for dine in food on a Friday (well over an hour after our order was taken) bordered on unacceptable (their takeout business was busy the whole time though), the food was exceptional!

The hidden gem here, however, was the Chicken Alfredo Pasta. Yes. I know. I just said the chicken Alfredo pasta, but I didn’t stutter! I say again, this restaurant has literally the best fettuccine Alfredo (add in some Cajun butter for a kick!) that I have ever eaten. The 2 orders of the dinner-size portion size fed 5 people with enough to feed the whole family as leftovers the next day too - twice!

So, don’t come here in a hurry. Make sure you wear a mask, or they will gouge you and force you to buy one - even though you’re about to sit at a table and eat with your mouth…. But DO come hungry, and you WILL come back.

*update - I took my wife to a different (not to be named) Cajun place in the area for a date night a couple weeks after coming here, and the experience cemented this as our FAVORITE Cajun/seafood spot in the area. Every item on this menu is delicious. I took that for granted the first visit, but after trying out the competition, while maybe one item was as good, the whole package failed to live up to Krab Kingz extremely high bar for flavor...
