Best bang for the buck when you come to Destin. We randomly choose this place for lunch after playing in the gulf all morning and I'm so glad we did. If you want some amazing seafood that won't break your pocket book, this is the place to go.
My wife ordered the shrimp basket and said it was the best shrimp she's ever had. The shrimp slaw was also very good and has a hint of flavor that kinda reminds you of fall flavors like cinnamon. And the shrimp in the slaw can actually be found.
I had the whitefish tacos and a side of green beans. You get 2 tacos and the mango salsa they put on it is really good. There are nice chunks of mango and the white fish is well portioned and grilled perfectly and moist. Probably the best fish tacos I've had. Green beans were also very good as they had great flavor, almost as if cooked in a stew of some kind.
We ordered funnel cake fries for dessert and they were also top notch, they weren't all stuck in a blob like you get at the fairs.
The staff were really friendly as if they'd known you for years and the restaurant was nice and comfortable and clean.
The price for the food was really good and even cheap compared to other seafood restaurants that are mentioned much more online and in YouTube videos of Destin.
We originally planned to go to a different place for each meal while we were here, but we decided this place was so good, that we are gonna come back again before we leave.
We even bookmarked it in our maps for our next...
Read moreI wanted to enjoy this experience but it was lacking so much from the service to the availability of food. I waited at the bar for over 30 minutes just to place an order and wasn't able to get what I wanted, raw oysters, but wasn't informed until I was trying to place my order. I'm grateful that they weren't willing to sell bad oysters but upset that I had to wait so long just to be told that it wasn't available. I think they were short staffed because everyone was running around frazzled but the lack of service was inexcusable. It wouldn't have taken very much time for someone to acknowledge that I was waiting or stop what they were doing for a few minutes just to see what I was waiting on and try to help me. The hostess did ask if I was waitingnon anything and after I told her I was waiting to order she simply said okay and walked off she didn't alert any staff that I needed to place an order. One of the other patrons had to alert the staff that both I and another gentleman were waiting to order otherwise I may have waited for even longer just to place the order. In total I believe I waited about an hour just to get 2 baskets. I have been yo other shrimp basket locations and had better service so I'm hoping that if I return to this location the food and service will be better quality than what I experienced...
Read moreI could smell rancid oil as soon as we walked in. I was starving but the smell of the oil was awful. I ended up only ordering sweet potato fries because the smell ruined me ordering anything else. My fries were black in the outside and mush on the inside, mixed with the confirmation of rancid cooking oil, did me in. My 9 yr old ordered a shrimp basket and has been sick to her stomach for two days. Awful foul Diarrhea, awful smelling burps and foul gas! She was so excited to eat seafood too. Which sucks because she will probably never give it another chance now. That was Thursday, it is almost Sunday and she is still in knee deep of upset stomach.
I was upset that my appetite was ruined by the smell, but ultimately I ended up being glad. My 7 year old only had an upset stomach for the rest of Thursday afternoon. She had diarrhea and complained of tummy ache. She ate chicken strips.
Two other people ate shrimp and one other person ate a burger with no complaint. Except about the smell after sitting down. So… I don’t know if it was oil or shrimp. Just the two youngest had upset stomachs.
The server was super friendly and on top of his job. Drinks were refilled before even realizing it, he was super welcoming and did a great job. Not his fault the...
