The food is absolutely amazing and makes up for the service, which has room for improvement. We ordered the vegetable tempura, which was flavorful and percectly crispy. I highly recommend the Lilikoi Sojurita, which was sweet and one of their signature drinks. We also had the sushi sampler, and I loved their spicy tuna roll which had large pieces of tuna and a subtly spicy aftertaste. I really enjoyed their spicy miso ramen, which had a light amount of spice for flavor in their tonkotsu broth. Noodles were good quality and the egg was flavorful and complemented the broth.
As I see others have mentioned, their service has room for improvement. An ideal waiter will usually refill waters, offer additional drinks when one is empty, ask if the food is good and turned out OK, and ask if we want dessert when our meal is complete. Our waiter did none of these things during our visit - we were fully and completely ignored after we placed our initial food order, which is unacceptable! In fact, after finishing our meal and waiting several minutes, we asked one of the others bussing dishes away from tables for our check because our waiter would not return. I wanted to try all three of their signature drinks and soba for dessert, but I had no opportunity to place an order for these. There was some confusion from our waiter when placing our order as I suspect his ipad only showed english names for the different fish options for the sushi sampler when the menu named them in both English and Japanese (we opted to speak their Japanese names listed on the menu when we ordered). We had to compare ipad to menu to identify the english names so the waiter could enter our order.
Overal amazing experience, and the best ramen I've had to date. I highly recommend them and plan to return soon. Domo Izakaya has potential to become a phenominal five star restaurant for their food quality alone, but must first improve training for service quality of waiters, make sure their menu matches ipads, and ensure waiters are familiar with common fish names as printed...
Read moreThe atmosphere is cute and cozy. The Highlight is the sushi bar it really gives the vibe with their super cute chopstick holders and handsome sushi chefs! I didn't like seeing a lot of their overflow items and backstock in the dining room though, it made for a little bit of an eye sore.
The food we had was fresh but some items were better than others. We had the KFC appetizer and being that I am pescatarian I am appreciative of the toppoki added on the plate, the sauce was delish not too sweet not too spicy, the toppoki was a little over cooked in my opinion I would have liked them softer and honestly I would have ordered just those if I could. The pork bun was just ok, from my significant other's opinion, but the real winner are the crab rangoons. Super thin crispy wraps with the perfect amount of filling. Get two orders of those for the table !
My little one had just some plain noodles and they were super good! I wish I had got them for myself. They were low on their Ramune soda flavor options and I was hoping to get a boba since one of their sister stores is Think Poke. They have the best boba around, but sadly I did not see that option available. I ordered a fried salmon sushi roll-I don't remember the name they use on the menu for the particular rolls and a tempura shrimp roll and they were ok but I think next time I will try a fresh not fried roll. I do not recommend the fried icecream it is a tempura batter and it does not hold up well texture wise. I would hope they revisit that recipe and preparation. My significant other was dissapointed with the chicken ramen, the noodles were fine but the rest of the components were a miss.
The service was really good everyone was friendly and smiling and they seem to work as a group effort for the entire dining room. All the team members help all the customers which was interesting to see, but it seemed to benefit everyone.
Not a super wow factor establishment...
Read moreI wish I could give more stars, but I really wasn’t impressed. The place is really nice and the people who work there are very friendly. I don’t know if we had a new person or what, but they didn’t really know about the menu fully. We ordered the KFC chicken which was good, but we wanted to know what the little fried pieces were that were mixed in with the chicken wings. They weren’t bad and I would have ate more, but I like to know what I’m actually eating. Idk if it was a fried fish cake or what, but when we asked the waiter she said she thinks it’s just chicken…the texture and taste was not chicken and it wasn’t very comforting if someone doesn’t know for sure what they are serving. The ramen broth was very bland from what I’m used to and my boyfriend’s literally just tasted like straight pepper. We also like spicy broth so we asked for chili oil and the first waitress said they had 3 different kinds of chili oil so would bring out a flight to try them all. When the food came out there was a single dish of a dark colored oil. I asked where the chili oil was and she said that was the chili oil. I was hesitant, but my boyfriend put it in his broth and he said that’s definitely not chili oil. I tasted what was left in the dish and it tasted like soy sauce. Im unsure if it was soy sauce or black garlic oil since I’m seeing these other reviews now. I questioned the waiter when they came back and they said oh it could have been soy sauce. I mentioned the whole chili oil flight thing that the other waitress said so she brought up a container with 3 different compartments. These compartments barely had anything in it, but one was oil, one was a paste and one was seasoning…Everyone was very nice, but it’s really important to know what you are serving and honestly with the “chili oil flight” I started to question how authentic this place was because I’ve been to many ramen places and chili oil is...
