This is one of the best restaurants in Destin. It exclusively serves fresh caught fish, they even have an off menu "fish in a bag" that is whatever excess fresh caught fish they have deliciously steamed in parchment paper I think (it's usual grouper or snapper they are very prevalent around these parts). From the complimentary hush puppies to the key lime pie this place gets it right. The key lime pie is made in house and is real key lime pie not that bright fluorescent colored crap (and if it's your birthday they'll bring you a free piece with a candle in it). Also you can get your fish done black and pan fried or grilled you just have to ask they actually offer grilled and pan fried generally but you can get blackened if you ask. Also their blackening seasoning is really good. Their sauces are all properly made french sauces too. The beurre Blanc with sublime the hollandaise was a bit thick but the other specialty sauces we got as well were very good. If you've ever been to New Orleans the inside of this place has a real subtle New Orleans Louisiana vibe (I'm from the new Orleans area so it's not Mardi Gras themed. It just looks like what upscale restaurants in New Orleans look like inside including chandeliers lighting). The twice baked potatoes are excellent and come with every entree. The salad is a solid simple spring mix of greens, an olive, cherry tomato and a banana pepper with a light vinaigrette with Parmesan cheese. I got the grouper Pontchartrain which has a whole fried soft shell crab on top with hollandaise and beurre blanc sauces to the side. The rest of my family got various dishes all of which were excellent. Dustin has a lot of seafood places and many of them are substandard this is not one of those places this is an excellent place to get fresh seafood made in the property New Orleans way. If you know the difference I would say it's more creel than Cajun but then again most of us ordered stuff that is creole ...plates of fried food are also available. This place actually has a seasonal menu too for instance right now the beginning of May is the end of crawfish season so they have a whole crawfish menu that's not going to be here in a month, but I'm sure it will be back next year. But basically if there's anything that's "in season" it will be on the menu as a special. Also they have daily specials that aren't listed online or anywhere. In summation this place is excellent it's my favorite seafood place in Destin I haven't gone to some place that's more expensive but the entrees are between 30 and 55 bucks pretty much and the appetizers are around 20 bucks a piece if you go real light on the menu when you don't get alcoholic beverages you should be able to come out of there for under $60 a person but it's easy to be $100 a person if you get appetizers and dessert. If you've got the money I think it's well worth it to eat a this...
Read moreI think maybe this was just a string of bad experiences so if I come back I'll update my review.
Why a 3? it wasn't a singular big issue but a lot of little issues that just added up to a very mediocre experience
the issues: -- BEWARE‼️ bacon/ham in the twice baked potatoes. This is probably the most annoying faux pas of the evening. If you get an entree at the restaurant it comes with a salad, hush puppies (pretty yummy) and a twice baked potato. There are no indications (as far as I know that there is meat in the potato. This is obviously an issue for pescatarians and vegetarian/vegans or people that just don't like or can't eat pork (such as myself). Additionally its pretty dim in the restaurant so you can't really see it until you bite into your meal. Luckily I was ok with that just a plain baked potato but what a terrible way of going about business. Consideration for dietary concerns just out the window. -- 🥗salad was drenched in dressing. This was pretty trivial but I usually prefer to have my dressing on the side. Unfortunately, I didn't get asked my preference so I just had to deal with it. Trivial in the grand scheme of things but it adds up. -- 🍴silverware. Unfortunately, there was a ton of gunk on my silverware. They, being well intentioned, removed the other silverware from my table so I didn't have the opportunity to just swap them out. I settled for hot water and a lemon. The server was nice enough to bring me another napkin which I appreciated.
Food: maybe it was because of my experience but I think given the price the food was just ok. Perhaps that's just my expectations, but I think there are tastier dishes at other restaurants in Destin and FWB at a smaller price tag. That being said the food was NOT bad by any means but it wasn't particularly amazing either. I'd say overall a 4/5 on the food. The food came out promptly too, I did not have to wait long and they bring out the sides like the hushpuppies while you wait which was nice.
Service: the server was very prompt and despite all of the issues didn't seem too flummoxed by the issues. Would've been nice to see her a bit apologetic all things considered but 🤷🏾♂️. Can't fault her for that 5/5.
Atmosphere: it's a nice restaurant. At least it has all of the trappings of a nice restaurant. It's on the water. Outside seating is nice and the inside is nice. The tables aren't right on top of each other like in some restaurants. I wish it was a tiny bit brighter but that's probably only because my experience.
Overall: I'd probably eat here again. I was very bummed bc of my experience. I really wanted dessert going in (I almost always get dessert when I eat out) but I was so very underwhelmed and disappointed by my experience that I just stopped at a local ice cream spot instead on...

I have spent the general amount of my summer this year in the Gulf, and hands down Louisiana Lagniappe gives my heart a flutter when I even write the words. On the side, I'm a New Orleans child who identified by my Parrish n my side of the crescent city no foolin. I love food and I'm an advocate for small business making beautiful memories for people.
Let's get details! High health code rating (I should mention I always pick five stars because I only review what's worth 5. Take me seriously,.I only look for what kind of kitchen I would work in myself. I don't play) Good parking, easy accessible for disabilities/handicapped entrance and well kept bathrooms.
Food is higher price point, its worth every penny and it is a local beloved spot because it is uncompromising in delivering quality.
I had; a special one night with grouper n stuffed soft shell crab, grouper meuniere (I love this style, I can hardly pronounce it but I have read this chefs work... incredible history!) on another, hubby had surf n turf and loved it. Key lime pie was superb. Creme brulee was delicious, peanut butter pie made my son's say they liked it more then mine (to be fair, I make bourbon Kentucky derby pecan better then peanut butter chess). Lobster Rangoon's were truely excellent!!! I want that recipe. Butter pineapple Rum scallops were also highly recommended.
I didn't need to eat all the next day I was so full. Honestly I hardly ever eat so much!
I love the dragonfruit margarita on the rocks, Husband takes his whiskey neat,.many top shelf options, they have Blantons! Grey Goose, and my favorite tequila which is a name I'm not dropping because its so smooth and yet still underated in the states 🤫
The servers know the area's for both locations well and they all...
