After a long day in the ocean w empty tummies, my husband and I went here expecting an authentic experience. We would have faired better at Chili’s.
The best about this place is the cleanliness, the service, and the soda selection. I ordered street tacos..carne asada and my husband ordered the supreme/loaded nachos.
When we read the reviews there was mention of a salsa bar (toppings for the tacos) but I was fairly confident that this business like others had taken precautions for Covid. They hadn’t.
Our chips and salsa and cheese (they charge you for chips and salsa) arrived and the chips were cold and stale. Like day old chips (chewy).
The salsa was watery and reminded me of eating rotel straight from the can. The cheese dip was super thick and reminded me of velveta. It got cold and lumpy in a matter of minutes. Cold lumpy cheese dip on chewy day old chips.
Thank the heavens that our entrees arrived. My tacos were on cold corn tortillas w fatty dried steak chunks and two slices of grilled onion to the side. I would had to get salsa/pico at the bar. This is the same bar everyone goes to, to get their entrees wo masks on. I just used the rotel salsa at the table.
My husband’s nachos had yellow (sports stadium) nacho cheese, dried out steak bits, and other various toppings.
I was afraid to say a word. I didn’t want to seem like a Karen. I was so relieved when we left and my husband remarked, “those were the worst nachos I’ve ever had in my...
Read moreStopped by while on vacation from TX because someone in our group felt like tacos. Decided to give this place a try. Seemed promising at first, waiter came took our drink and appetizer orders. He came back with the drinks and appetizer and took our food orders, then we didn't see him again for about 35-40 minutes.
Some guy from the kitchen came and dropped off our food. Appetizer was a sad excuse for a choriqueso which was just queso dip with some cooked chorizo thrown on top. That ain't choriqueso! My wife got surf and turf which is served with rice beans and tortillas. Fish was mushy and tasteless, rice was crunchy. I hope you like peeling heads, legs and tails off of shrimp because that's what you're going to be doing if you order any entre with shrimp on it. Even after it was peeled it was horrible tasted like dried anchovies. The table behind us was also having a bad experience.
So in conclusion the food was terrible, service terrible and prices are outrageous. If you feel like Mexican food while in Destin try going elsewhere, anywhere. You'll probably be happier going to Taco Bell and have a lot of...
Read moreThis place marks a new history in Destin and the Gulf Coast, it's only taken 15 years to get quality Mexican food here and an awesome market. If you are from here or a locale that doesn't serve authentic Mexican food, California style then do your research, this isn't Taco Bell. Ground beef is taco bell ,if you're used to eating at Mexican / American food joints where all of your food is covered in some type of sauce , that is not Mexican food. It has been "dumbed down" for the fried chicken and hamburger/hot dog eaters. This is the real deal, take it from someone who has eaten off of food carts and food trucks from San Diego to Los Angeles (long before they were ever on TV and cool) Ensenada to Mazatlan, and everywhere else in between. This is Valhalla, if you don't like it then go refine your palette, get up to speed and then come back. Street tacos don't have ground beef, lettuce and tomato, that's a hamburger on a bent shell. Thank you MiGente for bringing the culture to the fried food capital of the world. Thanks for defining clean and opening your kitchen so that everyone can see where their food...
