Stopped here on whim looking to try and new place and I was not disappointed. The food truck is parked in the shopping center of the grocery store and the far end. When I got there there was no line which was nice. The customer service was great. The man at the window was super helpful. My only complaint was you use a kiosk to order your food, which is fine but on a really sunny day it’s hard to see the screen. The food itself was very good. Bonus points for being halal meat. The pattys has a nice bark on them and were both dry which was nice. The bun nicely toasted, and you get a great potion of fries on the side. The curly fries most likely came from a bag but they were cooked great and tasted on par with Arby’s curly fries. My food came out in less than ten minutes which was perfect. My only complaint was it was messy, but that’s not an actual complaint. I would come back and order again. Condiments were offered on the side which was a nice touch. The chipotle sauce on my burger was great. I wish I had some of that on the side. I ordered the inferno burger and it was spicy, but not too spicy (if you actually enjoy heat). I appreciate the amount of pickled jalapeños it came with.

Can’t believe I waited this long to try A1 Smash Burgers & Bowls. Right across from DMC—perfect spot for anyone working at the hospital or nearby. I grabbed the Classic Smash Burger Combo and it was fire—real flavor, not that flat fast food stuff. Their Chicken Over Rice and Steak Over Rice bowls come loaded and drizzled with this light sauce that makes it all come together. Portions are solid, prices are more than fair, and they even give 15% off to nurses, law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency vehicle drivers—big respect for that. You can tell it’s still a growing spot (sometimes there’s a wait), but honestly, that just means your food is fresh and made to order. I’d rather wait for real food than get cold, rushed junk. Midtown needed something like this—definitely pulling back up.

The food was fine! The ordering process was smooth. They offer a self-ordering kiosk! I ordered the Texas Burger (Double beef patties, 2 crispy onion ring, tangy BBQ sauce, fresh lettuce, tomato, and melted cheese) and curly fries. There was no wait to order. The wait between ordering and receiving my food was pushing 20 minutes, but it was worth the wait. EVERYTHING WAS HOT AND FRESH! Interestingly, the patties did not taste seasoned at all. However, the flavor from the rest of the ingredients on the burger pulled it all together! The chef was nice, as well!

This was my very first time trying this food truck, and unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with food. I ordered a steak bowl, and right away I noticed something seemed off with the meat. The taste and smell weren’t quite right, but I pushed through a few bites before deciding to stop because I was almost certain the steak had gone bad.

Not long after, while I was back at work, I developed a sharp stomach ache that kept getting worse. By the time I got home, I was violently sick and began vomiting nonstop. It became so severe that I had to go to the hospital, where I remained until 4 a.m. The doctors confirmed it was food-related.

I have never experienced something like this in my life, and it’s deeply concerning that spoiled food was being served. Food safety should be a top priority, especially for a business serving customers directly from a food truck. I truly hope they take this seriously, because serving meat that has gone bad can have dangerous...

5 Stars A1 Smash Burger and Bowls is hands-down the best spot in Detroit for fresh, halal smash burgers and bowls! Every ingredient is top quality — you can actually taste the difference. They get their meat fresh daily from the butcher, and everything is made to order. The food is juicy, flavorful, and always served hot.

They’re open every day from 11 AM to 11 PM, which makes it super convenient for lunch, dinner, or even a late-night craving. Plus, it's all halal, which is a huge bonus for those of us looking for great-tasting halal food in Midtown Detroit.

If you're looking for halal smash burgers in Detroit, fresh halal food near me, Midtown Detroit burgers, or A1 Smash Burger and Bowls on East Warren Ave, this is the place you want to check out. The service is friendly, the location is clean, and the prices are just right.

Highly recommend this spot for anyone who wants quality, flavor, and freshness in every bite. Definitely a must-visit if you're...
