I want to start this review by clarifying that The Scarab Club is a beautiful gallery, and this review does not reflect on the artists or the gallery itself. I am writing this review as someone who rented the venue for my wedding this past Saturday, and this review should be reflected on the events team alone.
My husband and I toured The Scarab Club in December of 2023 and fell in love with the space for our June 2025 wedding. It was everything we dreamed of for our wedding, and truly is a beautiful historic building. At the time of our tour and signing of our events contract, there was one events coordinator who eventually departed from the venue and another events coordinator was hired. Although we were never notified of this change until we reached out ourselves months later (unprofessional in my opinion, but fine), their new events coordinator, Becky, was easy to work with during the planning process.
Upon the switch of venue coordinators, there were zero communication from the team that there were changes to venue policies from the time of signing our contract to the time of our event. That was, until the day of our wedding. About an hour before our ceremony as guests began to arrive, I received a call from my personal coordinator stating that the venue was not allowing our dog (our ring bearer) into the venue. When we toured Scarab Club in 2023 we asked the previous venue coordinator if our dog would be allowed in the venue to be our ring bearer. Not only did she excitedly say yes, but she also stated that they had previously had dogs and he would be allowed at the venue the entire time of rental. Although we only planned for him to be there during the ceremony and cocktail hour, we were happy to find a venue that would joyfully involve him in the process.
I don't believe any bride wants to be crying out of frustration an hour before she walks down the aisle, but unfortunately that was my experience with the venue. Not only were things being changed in real time, but Becky stated that she "didn't believe we would ever have been told" that our dog would be allowed on premises. It is one thing to need to adjust on a wedding day, it is another to essentially be called a liar by a venue you are spending $7,000+ with. Becky never came to speak with me personally about this matter or these changes, never attempted to understand the situation or previous conversations with the venue, forced my personal coordinator to be the middle man, and then acted as if none of this had happened later that evening wishing myself and my husband a happy wedding day.
I believe most situations such as this can be solved or at least remedied by a conversation face to face, but that option was never taken by venue staff. The venue and my coordinator came to an agreement that our dog could be in our outdoor ceremony if he were to leave after. I am thankful he was still able to be there, but to be blindsided by multiple changes throughout the process of working with The Scarab Club, especially on the day of an event, (venue staff changes, animal policies, AND stating that candles could not be lit inside the venue after my florist had already called and been told they could be lit inside glass jars) I would absolutely not recommend them for weddings...

Read moreWe pulled up to see the Scarab Club exhibits and immediately was confronted by a woman in the parking lot in a hostile manner. She asked if we were members, and she demanded to know why we were there. We answered we wanted to see the exhibit. She said "what exhibit"? We said the Scarab Club exhibits. Then she said there was a private event starting soon. She was not welcoming at all and wanted to make sure we left before the "important" people got there, not us rif raf. Her attitude was just awful. She identified herself as events manager, so we can only assume her name is Judy, by looking at the website. We won't be attending any of her events any time soon, if that's how she welcomes people to the...
