First off this is a family owned small business. I always try to encourage others to keep that in mind when writing reviews. I’ve gone here since they first started their pop up at Nancy’s whiskey and then followed them to their new spot on Fort st. I even hired them to cater one of my business lunches! I’ve talked to the owners and workers extensively and I can’t praise them enough! Yes, huge food chains can provide speedy service. However, you’re not getting homemade, fresh, authentic food. Such as the homemade rice and beans recipe Detroit Loves Tacos specializes in and has been making for years! So if you want speed but not taste hit up Taco Bell. If you want authentic taste you know what they say, it’s worth the wait! Trust me everything on this menu from the empanadas to the Cuban sandwiches are worth a wait! You have workers here that have been cooking these recipes for years. That kind of dedication and expertise isn’t cheap and we shouldn’t expect it to be. The prices here are reasonable for the quality of food you are getting. Birria tacos for one are a dish that takes hours and hours to prepare! It’s something usually made for special occasions in Latino households because they are time consuming. So to find a spot that doesn’t compromise the quality is worth the quantity in my opinion! Again, if you want cheap understand you’re sacrificing the quality and risking long bathroom visits! So do your stomach a favor and check out Detroit Loves Tacos today! I go every taco tuesday that I’m in town!

Bring your own jalapenos. Food tasted good. Portion size on the Nachos was huge. I only ate about half of it. Lots of meat and cheese. My only criticism is that I'd give up half the size on the Nacho for a few more peppers. They charge 50¢ for jalapenos but the cup only contained 4 slices... Even at store-bought prices an ounce of sliced jalapenos cost 19¢ and would include 12 slices. Their markup on the jalapenos is 733%! And that assumes they don't buy in bulk. That's crazy. Bring you own peppers.

Been coming here for years so I was pretty surprised when they gave me a small box for my 3 tacos. I'm thinking...maybe they ran out of the standard rectangle boxes. Nope, the tacos were smaller. So 15 dollars later, I feel like they shorted me a taco by the tortillas being a 1/3 smaller than normal. Definitely don't see myself buying a extra taco to make up for them downside so it's something to consider for next time.

I’ve been hooked on their tacos since even before they had a permanent location! Their recipes are unique, and sooo much better than all the other taquerias. I usually get the pineapple pork (it has pork loin, chorizo, and bacon in it 🤤🤤🤤) the carnitas, and the chicken (it’s shredded chicken breast, not dry chopped up stuff.) The tacos are HUGE! I order them through DoorDash while I’m at work a lot and I always have my third taco as leftovers the next day lol. Also it’s fine if you type in the notes that you want to mix and match meats in your...

Love this place so much! It’s inside one of the accounts I service which makes it sooo hard to walk in and not get anything! Lol. I’ve had the Cubans, every kind of taco they offer, the empanadas & a taco salad. Oh and the streetcorn salad… 🤤🤤🤤🤤 Cubans are amazing, all the tacos are great, my fave empanada I think is the corned beef. It’s very clean and the people are friendly. Had them make me a tray of Cuban sliders and an elote corn salad for Super Bowl. Everyone at the party raved about everything I brought!...
