Recent events: 01/16/2024 A "situation" waiting to happen! The pictures are what is supposed to be a clear and safe walkway. I tell someone (I guess in charge) about the situation, and all HE wants to do is appear to be UNCONCERNED and states that HE saw the "maintenance crew" put salt out. Well, guess what? It looks 👀 like YOU missed this! Do ANYONE see a SAFE situation within the pictures? 03/24/2020 This is by far the worst place to try to get information. When students call for information regarding their account, it states to call student accounts. NO ONE answers the phone. Students are asked to leave a message. Students leave several messages over a period of time, and NO ONE returns calls. Students are to graduate and NEED information to help students. We go in person to speak with someone in students' services. The people at the downtown campus were nice. We called the number that was given (District Financial Aid), and the person (male) that answered the phone was no help and rude. He stated that he would pass the information along and when asked how long it will take? No answer. He was reminded that there are 34 days left for the semester. He was asked 30, 45, or 90 days? or 2 weeks or 3 days? Still no answers. Students call to get answers, and students get sent from place to place. WCCCD needs to make an area for student accounts. Maybe if there's a section for them, students can receive faster information. Disclaimer: Not all staff are HORRIBLE. Those who are HORRIBLE make it harder for the ones who do ASSIST students. There should be a list of the staff members who go above and beyond. To be HONORED. The HORRIBLE staff's picture needs to be posted on a wall.

I had great learning experiences at WCCCD! I am alumni as of 2015 with a science degree. I was admitted into WCCCD again last week and will attempt to obtain an applied science degree. And then a nursing license! What I appreciate most about this college is it's diversity! For instance, my philosophy teacher was a white man, my anthropology professor was an African Doctor, and my first English professor there was a Red Hat Society member who was an African American female. I value the culture of this college.

A great institution for higher education and certificate training programs. They've also just opened a new entrepreneurship center @ the downtown campus!

The administrators and office employees of this college should be fired (By the way, this will be a long review...Yes! This so-called college is THAT horrible.). Even though this school has six campuses and prides itself on being accessible, it is not accessible. If you are planning on attending one campus of this school because it is near your home, then you are going to have a bad time. Recently, I went to register for a fall 2017 CIS class at one of WC3's campuses. I go to this campus (not the downtown campus) because it is close to my home. This is the only WC3 campus I have ever attended classes at. The advisor told me WC3 is not offering any CIS classes at this campus for fall 2017. I was told CIS classes are offered at this campus once a year. If you are relying on someone else for transportation or don't want to burn gas, then WC3 is not the college for you. That's not all. The office employees who work for this college (If you would call it that.) do not return phone calls (I know, right? That is unprofessional.). If a professor does something unethical, then don't count on WC3's administration to have your back. In a class I attended, I was not understanding the material. When I told my professor I wasn't understanding the material, the professor didn't want to help me. When I went to the LRC tutor at my campus for help, instead of the tutor helping me, the tutor was using their smartphone. When I told my campus' dean about the tutor, the defended the tutor (Oh, and did I mention that the dean didn't investigate the matter?). Also, the dean yelled at me. I am disabled. I have Autism. I should've been helped. The people at this school give out incorrect information over the phone. If you talk to one employee, they will tell you one thing and if you talk to another employee, then they will tell you something extremely different. As for buying textbooks at this so-called college, I know what you are thinking: "Each WC3 campus has an on-campus bookstore. Buying textbooks at WC3 should be easy." Actually, buying textbooks at WC3 is complicated. You see, I took a class at WC3 one time. At the start of the semester, my professor told me and my classmates some bad news: The textbook for our class was not at the on-campus bookstore. We were told the college ordered the wrong textbook. I had to buy my textbook from an online retailer (In other words, if you are a financial aid student, then prepare to pay out of pocket for your textbooks.). At the WC3 campus I currently go to, the classroom for CIS classes is the only classroom with a projector screen. At the campus I go to, the other classrooms don't have projector screens. Want to talk to a WC3 staff member at a WC3 campus? Prepare to wait a couple of hours to talk to them. Worst case scenario is waiting a couple of hours to talk to a staff member and then being told they are in a meeting (That happened to me.). The academic advisors at WC3 are horrible. They will sign you up for classes you don't need to take. If you are planning on going to a community college, then don't go to this one. Go to Macomb Community College. MCC is a good school. If you are planning on going into an IT (Information Technology) or Computer Programming career, then go to Oakland Community College. OCC has a good Information Technology/Computer Programming program. WC3 doesn't give their Computer Information Systems program a lot of attention (Matter of fact, they haven't updated their CIS program. CIS should be Comp Sci.). The staff members at WC3 don't care about the students being educated. The staff members at WC3 only care about being paid. The staff members at this college have a "Why should I care?" attitude. The professors here are good but the office employees and administrators are horrible. Go elsewhere. The staff members and office employees here are roadblocks. They prevent you from getting your education. I really wanted to give this college zero stars. All of the staff members and office employees at this so-called college should be fired. New people should...

I have not gone to this school in about 4 years. I am so upset with this school I decided to write a review about my current complaint and some other problems I had with the school that I can remember off the top of my head.

The school is not worth the money paid for. All of the teaching staff I came across was very nice and respectful, but the office staff, financial aid, admission, cashier office is insanely unorganized and disrespectful.

Recently I applied to go back to college and requested my official transcripts. I was denied because there is a hold on my account. I called to speak with student relations, they said I owe the school money and to talk with account receivable. Well then they want you to leave your number and they will call you back within 48 hours. Well I have done that 3 times since last August. Nobody has called me back. I now live on the other side of the state or I would just go down there. Call #4 in March I demanded to speak to someone. The women then told me there is a form online I need to fill out stating my claim and fax it to the claims department. 2 weeks later I get no response and just a copy of my transcripts in the mail (which I can not use as an official transcript for college transfer). I log into my account, there is still a hold. I do not owe the school money. they just cant get it together I guess. Can not send my transcripts out. I am at the point where I have retaken almost all the courses at another community college and do not even want to deal with them anymore.

I took 2 Chemistry courses at this school, and after paying big money for the lab manuals and lab fees. I attended class and was unable to do a handful of the labs due to expired chemicals, or chemicals not being in the lab. I filed a complaint with the school demanding my lab fees back and I was denied.

While I attended the school there was no tutoring centers available, other community colleges and colleges have tutoring centers where other students and teachers are able to help you. At WCCCD you have to schedule appointments.

And good luck with the admission and financial aid process. If you have not gone to college before good luck. They do not have an organized system to tell you what to do. You will end up spending 1-3 days running around the buildings trying to make sure everything is done right. Every person sends you to another person. Nobody really knows what they are doing. It is a complete nightmare.

One semester my financial aid refund check was mailed to my address, and it was lost in the mail, and then stolen. I contacted the school multiple times regarding the situation they tried to say I cashed the check and I was lying. 2 Months later I then went down to the school and demanded to know where my money was. After making a complete scene, they asked me to get documents notarized stating that I did not cash the check, and I did not allow someone else to cash the check. A month later I was told my check was cashed at a liquor store in Detroit and that they found the person and I would be getting another check that I would have to pick up... A year and a half later they finally contact me about my check. I went down to the school to get it. They asked for my ID before issuing it and made me sign forms confirming it was me. But because the address was different they would not give me my check. Well duh its been almost 2 years. I then went down to the school presidents office and demanded to be seen or I was not leaving. The president then ok'd me...

Honestly, I don’t see how they have a 3 star rating unless the administration office is making accounts and rating this school higher than 1 star. This is by far the WORST community college ever created. Each and ever administration worker are not informative or helpful. The academic advisor discourage students from engaging in taking more than 4 classes, and are only there to make money. Shannon the vice president at the eastern campus is rude and disrespectful. I heard her talking to a student very poorly with unprofessional behavior. Yet, she is still working here and calling shots, because there are many people like her working at the Eastern campus. Personally, I’ve always felt that women do not deserve to be in such high positions considering they are emotionally triggered easily. PLEASE Stay far way from this school, this semester they charged every student $265 for cengage when the subscription is $140-$160 for every 4 months. This school is cheap because it contains many discombobulated, disorganized and dysfunctional black people working here for money. Stay far away from this school if you want to be somewhere in life. Also, most of the professors they hire are HORRIBLE. Danita Woods is also a disrespectful professor who competes with her students. On the day the class had an exam, she cut the class 3 hours short meaning we only had 1 hour to do our exam. Deolis Allen is the ONLY great professor who you will actually learn something from. WCCCD hire these international professors who can barley speak English which makes it hard for you to learn and understand the material. Please take my advice, I am a student fresh out of high school and been attending here ever since. I had to drop out of here because this school was a waste of my time and energy. Also, accounts receivable who do the refund does a...
