Ran into Sheeba Express randomly while looking for an alternative to our usual fare in Detroit. Stopped by on a Tuesday Night around 7pm, and surprisingly there was no wait at all! The restaurant looks like a "hole-in-the-wall" type joint from the outside, but don't let that scare you off! The inside is actually very modern and there's seating inside, but don't expect to have enough space for big groups. There's street parking nearby, as well as small parking lots, but you're really better off using the street parking. Fair warning, the streets can be really uneven and riddled with potholes, so park cautiously.
I initially ordered a Shish Kafta, but because they had run out, switched my order to a Kabob. The dinner orders come with 2 sides, so I tried the Lamb Vegetable Soup and Grilled Vegetables. The soup came out first, and it's almost enough to be a meal on its own! The Kabob was also fantastic, and everything tied together really well. All in all, it's a ton of food for the $15 price point of the Dinner entrees. It's easy to see that the food is very fresh, and they care about the customers that they have. Sheeba Express also has a great fresh juice selection, definitely check out the options if you're interested in mixing up your drink selection!
Keto/ Low Carb Folks: There's plenty of selection at Sheeba express, and they're happy to substitute Rice/ Fries for Grilled Vegetables or salads. Eat to your...
Read moreFood is good but, service seems to be getting worse. One time I went there and the chicken I got was mostly dried out.
The last time I visited they gave me a fist full of nickels and dimes for several dollars change,...They forgot to put one of my desserts in my bag,...and they also blew off my request for an extra side of garlic sauce right after I asked them and they said they would. When I asked them again I was then charged an extra dollar just for the small condoment. I think that the rest of my business will be going to other restaurants now.
Update (12/2018): Gave them another chance this year and received more bumbling. I got all the way home with my order only to find out they forgotten to include a side I had purchased. I had to go back to pick it up and there was no consolation gift offered or even a simple apology like I've received at other more professional places. They don't care about their customers apparently. They need to get rid of those immature kids they have at the register and get some real workers.
Update (2024) I gave them another chance, and unsurprisingly it didn't take long for them to fail putting everything I ordered into my bag. There just might not be any hope...
