Attending the Autorama 2024 at Huntington Place in Detroit was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked into the venue, I was engulfed in a world of automotive excellence that exceeded all my expectations. The sheer diversity and quality of vehicles on display were breathtaking, ranging from vintage classics that have stood the test of time to cutting-edge modern marvels pushing the boundaries of technology and design.
The organization of the event was impeccable, ensuring a seamless flow from one exhibit to another, allowing attendees to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and history of each vehicle. The attention to detail was evident, with informative plaques and interactive displays providing a deeper understanding of the significance and stories behind these mechanical masterpieces.
One of the absolute highlights of my visit was the adventure to the bottom floor, where the rat rods and "not trailered" cars were showcased. This section provided a raw, unfiltered look at the automotive culture, celebrating the rugged beauty and ingenuity of these beloved machines. It was a vivid reminder of the creativity and passion that fuels the heart of the car enthusiast community. Seeing these vehicles, each with its own unique character and backstory, was both inspiring and humbling. They stood as proud testaments to the dedication of their owners, who often drove them to the event, showcasing the operational and aesthetic appeal of these treasures.
Furthermore, the venue itself, Huntington Place, was the perfect backdrop for such a prestigious event. Its spacious, well-lit halls showcased the cars in their best light, while the facilities and services provided made the entire day comfortable and enjoyable for all who attended.
In conclusion, Autorama 2024 at Huntington Place in Detroit was a phenomenal experience. It was not just a car show; it was a celebration of automotive culture, a testament to human ingenuity, and an unforgettable gathering of like-minded enthusiasts. I left with a heart full of inspiration and a deep appreciation for the creativity and craftsmanship that define the world of cars, especially moved by the dedication of those who brought the rat rods and "not trailered" cars to life for us all to admire. Whether you're a seasoned collector, a casual enthusiast, or simply curious, Autorama is an event that truly should...
Read moreThis is a nice convention center. I went here for the 2025 Automate Show and was satisfied with my experience. I parked near the convention center and walked inside. This convention center has a large central hall with exhibition halls on one side, and a ballroom, meeting rooms, and food options on the other. The central hall also has street access. The central hall had a large check-in area for this event, and it only took me one minute to get my convention badge. The exhibition halls are each thousands of square feet, so there was plenty of room for fascinating exhibits about robots and automation technology and its application in various industries, but especially automotive. This convention center has several conference rooms on its third and fourth floors, as well as a PeopleMover station on the fourth floor. This convention center is connected to a small plaza outside with several chairs and tables and the Detroit Riverwalk, which has great views of the Detroit River, Detroit skyline, and Windsor skyline. I gave this convention center five stars because it has several large exhibition halls with plenty of room for interesting events and because it’s in a great location that’s...
Read moreI come here every year for a convention (Youmacon) around Halloween weekend/the first weekend of November. I love this place and it's always clean. Conference rooms are huge and allow for a lot of people to come to panels. I really like all the natural light from all the windows, and the stairs leading down to marble first floor is breathtaking.
The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because when the convention is happening, the heat is way way way to high. There's thousands of us in that one building and I've known people to pass out from the heat. I know it's cold out, but when there's that many people in one place it kind of balances out. Please consider turning down the heat next year, just for the weekend we're there.
The second reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is the staff have not been very friendly towards us. I realize we probably look a little weird all dressed up as anime characters, but we're all still human and kindness goes a long way. I can't tell you how many horror stories I heard after con of staff being...
