As far as fast food pizza and calzones are concerned, the food is top notch. My only gripe is I wish their largest pizza was 18 inches instead of 16 inches, then it would be worth the price. I also wish they would add a chicken Alfredo pizza to their specialty pizza line-up.
Service: perfunctory, mechanical, indifferent, uninterested.
Atmosphere: not exactly somewhere you'd want to sit and consume such good tasting food. It would be an affront to the food itself. 😆
Update August 2025 Regarding the battle of the calzones between Papa's Pizza and Happy's Pizza: if we are just using taste as a metric, the decision was very close, but Papa's beat Happy's by a small margin. Allow me to explain. Firstly, Happy's Pizza calzone is only slightly larger than Papa's and it was so surprisingly appealing visually, I was almost tempted to take a picture. This isn't to say Papa's Pizza calzone wasn't visually appealing as well. However, when I took my first bite of Happy's, I was underwhelmed and it tasted flat despite me ordering all the toppings that would normally go into an Italian calzone. I couldn't understand what was missing. It was only when I poured the Italian dressing upon the calzone they supplied did it come to life. Whereas, in times past (and now), Papa's Italian calzone, tasted so good right out of the box that I found myself having devoured the whole thing only to then realize I was given some dressing on the side. In the end, it came down to what type of bread they use for their respective calzones. Happy's bread tastes a little more sour and flavorless than Papa's and I believe that's what sets Papa's calzone apart.
Now as far as pricing is concerned this is where my main complaint lies. In order for me to get Happy's Pizza calzone stuffed with similar ingredients that would then make it an Italian calzone like that of Papa's calzone. I ended up having to pay for additional toppings, in essence building an Italian calzone from the ground up, spending $19.95 whereas a single Papa's Italian calzone was only $11 plus tax and came with all the necessary ingredients. What's more Papa's Pizza has a special right now, two calzones for $20. You...
Read moreSo my initial issue with Papa's Pizza is that I would order soda and would not receive my soda. I would order hot sauce or if you like buffalo sauce and would not receive it. So for a long time now I have been going back and forth with the company about drivers not bringing hot sauce or soda or Branch when I placed orders. Tonight because I paid with my debit card I was met with resistance for wanting to hold onto my itemized receipt I've had this issue before whether I paid in cash or by debit or credit card wear for some reason my itemized receipt was not being authorized to me. As a consumer of the product from this company I should be able to have a receipt that legitimizes my purchase. I should have a copy of what I ordered, how much I paid, and what the taxes are. And what the delivery fees are as they vary. Tonight I was mad with a very aggressive person who is mail because he believed that my itemized receipt was his. As I explained to him this receipt is my copy of what I purchased if you would like a copy you should go back to the company and have them print you out a copy of this order but this is my itemized receipt. Living on the westside of Detroit can be very aggressive where do you are life born citizen or not. I don't think that you should have to meet this type of aggression and your own City. I hope they do better but I am no longer a customer thank you sincerely...
Read moreWhoever is cooking this pizza at night…. KEEP THEM. The last 2 times I ordered from these guy’s, my pizza was made to perfection. From the freshness, all the way to the cheese, not dry and the toppings were fresh & they were not stingy. This is what makes Pizza GREAT! I haven’t had good pizza in a long time because everyone cooks their pizza in a rush & it shows and taste like it. However their starting to ask for the 3 digit code on the back of the card to ensure that the card is not stolen, I hate to break to you guys….. but if someone stole the card, their also going to have that 3 digit code on the back as well, that’s not ensuring anything lol. I will never give my 3 digit code over a phone, because that is what protects “Us” card holders, from our card information from being used from thieves. Yes thieves work at food restaurants, it’s common just go on social media and you will hear people’s Stories. Just stop accepting cards over the phone and ask Customers to order online. Other than that…. KEEP MAKING...
