Once I was in Greektown again, I was eager to try some Greek cuisine. Out of all the restaurants there, I selected the Pegasus Taverna. I found the place to be pretty cozy, the culture being tastefully used for decorations. All the staff members were friendly and welcoming. They were willing to explain whatever dishes we were unfamiliar with. My order was the Vegetarian Trio and a Small Greek Salad. I had intended for one part of it to be vegetarian but that was miscommunication on my end. The salad was tasty and had a very flavorful dressing and I was thankful that free bread was served to help mop up the excess. As for the Vegetarian Trio, I think mine turned out to be a Vegetarian Duo since I believe I got a double portion of the same dish, leaving me without the third choice, the Pastitsio. The lack of dill and mint flavors tipped me off. Despite that error, the other parts - the Spanakotiropeta and Moussaka - were delicious. I found myself enjoying my order as a whole. And considering I had quite a few meat heavy dishes over the week, this was a refreshing change of pace. I’m not sure when I’ll be coming back to Detroit, but if I do, I’ll find a way to make time for a meal here.

Opa!!!! Amazing Greek Restaurant at the heart of Detroit downtown. I had visited this place so many times, is one of my favorites places at Michigan. You can visit this restaurant before or after a Tigers, Lions or even Pistons games; or any other recreational new place at the renew Detroit. Getting back to Pegasus Taverna, we start the evening with a Saganaki "Opa!" Greek kasseri cheese with a blazing of Brandy, a must have entree; plus the surprise of the Greek heat and charm. We continue with Oktapodaki baby octopus, a freshly seasoning taste with a great tenderness of the octopus tentacles and head. If that wasn't enough, we jump into a veggie plate, the mighty Moussaka. Incredible eggplant layered with another vegetables, baked with bechamel custard with a touch of tomato sauce. Then with little bit of room in our belly, with continue with one of the restaurant oldest and greatest dishes using baby lamb bone-in roasted with potatoes and tomato sauce, the "Arnaki Psito!". Five Opa! To Pegasus's Taverna restaurant! Enjoy/Provechito!

The food was amazing. I can't say enough good things about the food. The service however was an entirely different story. Yes, it was busy.. but they were getting people in and out very quickly. First thing that happened was our waiter walked by our table 4 times saying he was coming back each time, fine they were busy so we understood and was ok with it. When he finally returned we tried ordering drinks, we asked the ingredients for the drinks and he didn't know.. and seemed a bit annoyed we even asked. Instead ordered a diet coke and the two other people received their drinks & the diet coke never came. Anytime a question was asked it was made seemed to be a super inconvenience that we had a question about a menu item. It was my first time there... so obviously I don't know the menu well or what meals include. We didn't even get to order our food when we were switched to a different server. Which was totally fine but we assumed we had another opportunity to ask about the drink which was in question. The water threw his arms up annoyed saying ugh I don't know and proceeded to grab the attention of our previous server to ask him the ingredients to which we just said never mind because we already asked and they didn't know. When we got to order our food, we were told to hurry up and decide because the kitchen was "backed up" . We quickly ordered and we did receive our food quickly which was great. The food was so good I'm willing to give this place another shot. But it is a bit disappointing when your made to feel as an inconvenience when you are giving a resturant your business. I can only hope next time is a better experience and this time was a fluke. If next time the service is as awful. I will not return.

I'm not sure where they learned to cook but trust me people this is not real Greek food. No flavor very bland cheapest ingredients they can find and seriously over priced for what you get and the quality. I gave it one star for the atmosphere and I almost didn't even give that our waiter Steve I think is his name completely ignored me the whole time, didn't even ask how our food was or more water for my empty glass no matter what I said to him ignored me he was more interested in flirting with my 6 month pregnant wife ( granted she's gorgeous) rather than listening to what I said, for example I ordered a Fix beer he said they might be out of that one so I gave him a second opinion I would have an Alfa, guess what I got neither of them he brought me what he wanted and said to my wife not me this beer is better anyways and left , another really great example of him not listening to me is when I paid the bill he brought my card back and left it on the table a few minutes later he came back and picked it up I said three times to him I'm not finished and he just ignored me and walked away, Wow a minute later after he finally figured out that I hadn't put a tip or anything he comes back and said I didn't leave him a tip, I kindly said I tried to tell you that I hadn't finished it in Greece I would call him a Malakas here are a couple pictures of the food oh and watch the floor because it's very slippery. I hope this review helps you if you don't care for quality and want to over pay for what you could get at any Coney Island for half the price and probably better quality.

I had the misfortune of dining at this establishment, and I can confidently say it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The food was an insult to taste buds everywhere—horrible in appearance, flavor, and quality. The so-called “meal” I was served looked like it was scraped off the floor of a gulag kitchen; the meat didn’t even appear cooked, resembling a gray, unappetizing lump that could double as a doorstop. The chicken dish was drowned in a sloppy, tasteless sauce, and the rice with green beans and tomato sauce was a sad, mushy mess that tasted like it had been reheated from last week’s leftovers. To top it off, my earlier order of rigatoni was a complete joke. It arrived cold, as if they’d forgotten about it, and when I complained, they had the audacity to microwave it and serve it back to me with a straight face, claiming it takes a full hour to make pasta—ridiculous! The texture was rubbery, and the flavor was nonexistent, making me question if they even know what pasta should be. The service was just as appalling. The waitress stumbled around like she’d had one too many, slurring her words and clearly clueless about the menu. When I asked for clarification, she stared at me blankly, as if the concept of food was foreign to her. This place is a travesty—overpriced, undercooked, and served by staff who couldn’t care less. Avoid it at all costs unless you enjoy culinary punishment!
