I don't go out of my way to give 1 star reviews, but my experience was literally the worst Detroit dining I can recall in the last 20+ years of being downtown regularly. Food: Arrived cold. All of it. The saganaki was so old it was hard to cut with the plastic take out silverware. No opa 🔥 or metal eating utensils here. No napkins either, only the tissue that comes with your plastic silverware. My wife's food came 25 minutes after the other two people in my party of 3. It was somehow still cold. Shawarma was large, but dry, cold, and uneventful. Gyro meat was cold, but great flavor. Chicken kebab was an absolute joke, I'm embarrassed for them. About a half thumb piece of chicken between a pizza topping size onion or green pepper. Insane. Service: This is bad. Worst service ever. My grandmother (50 years as a waitress) would have lost her mind. She came up to our table apologizing for not bringing us menus 3 times. She thought we were new customers each time. It took 35 minutes to get waters. At the hour mark, we got our beers and told her to forget the menus because we looked it up online and want to order. She took off immediately. I had to yelll across the place to ask her to bring more water. (the water never came.) After the food was brought with no plasticware or napkins, we needed those and some ketchup. Every time, this girl would bolt off randomly without listening to what we were asking for. We never got anything until we were ready to leave. THEY ADD GRATUITY TO THE BILL I tip 20% for basically anything. More if I have a great server. Less in the worst of situations (this would qualify) Maybe 3-4 times I've tipped less than 20% and it was justified. A bunch of other stuff was terrible, too.. bugs (open air, not really their issue) Server didn't bring my card back. Glad I caught that. Music loud af, like nightclub loud. I review honestly. This place is the worst I've been to in downtown Detroit.

After finding a long large piece of hair mid bite, they discounted the dish by 2$ after bringing to our waitress & a managers attention. Sadly had to argue in public in the restaurant to have the dish removed. Poor service by waitress who seemed baffled that 2$ wasn’t equal to missing out on a meal. I was taken aback, but not surprised after reading the other reviews people have previously left. This place hopefully will be rebought & renamed bc a place of this low quality with incompetent servers does not belong in Greektown. Absolutely nothing here is freshly made, apps food etc will come out in less than 10 minutes. Photos of the hair attached, as you can see there is food on it as it was IN or on top of the food, which resulted in him physically having to pull the hair of his mouth as I called the waitress over… thank god they left the empty appetizer plate for us to display it on. The service, the food, & the way everything was handled left a bad taste in my mouth, literally.

This place is dog friendly, which is amazing, and my food that I ordered was good. HOWEVER…the service SUCKED. My friend had a COOKED FLY in her food, when she pointed out to the manager, he said “well, u guys are sitting outside, so….” Then walked away. She again mentioned it to the waitress, she just said “ohhh…do u want a new one?” My friend said no, so the waitress just took the plate. Then minutes later, she came back with the bill. No apology, nothing, didn’t even offer my friend anything to make up for the disgusting fly in her food. When my friend asked for the manager, he came back looking annoyed and said “I took 25% off, because u guys were sitting outside, the fly could flew in ur food”. My friend then explained thag the fly was inside of the rice, and appears to be cooked, but the manager just shrugged it off. As much as I loved the fact that they are dog friendly…I will definitely NOT COME BACK, and would NOT RECOMMEND.

I had planned to get a sandwich and fries at Redsmoke, but walking on Monroe I saw a sidewalk sign that listed "Shrimp and Salmon Pasta." Didn't know anything about The Greek - just always assumed it was a nightclub or something, I guess - so I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked in. Really attractive, dark-ish but with enough lighting, smallish, and a hybrid bar/nice restaurant vibe. (It was uncrowded the weeknight I visited; only a couple tables occupied and a couple people sitting at the bar. Quiet, with great Latino [?!?] pop music overhead. Don't know how the vibe might change during busier times.) Service was casual, efficient, friendly, and really helpful. (My server found a cord and charged my phone while I ate.) The menu is very Greek - all the stuff you usually find, plus more - authentic Greek food, like octopus. A variety of non-Greek items on the menu, too. I stuck with my original pasta choice and ordered a small Greek salad as well. O.M.G. The food was DELICIOUS! Pasta came in a bowl with fork and pasta spoon. Moist, tender, flavorful slab of salmon covered in large, whole, tail shells-removed, perfectly-cooked shrimp, all surrounded by linguini in a lemony, peppery, thick cream sauce. Salad was fresh, many ingredients, perfectly dressed. And both dishes were VERY generously portioned. This would have been a nice meal for two people. (Instead, they gave me boxes and I enjoyed it just as much the next day.) It was a wonderful meal and a great experience! The ONLY reason I wouldn't recommend that everyone rush there tonight is that it is not inexpensive. Pasta: $36; Salad: $8; Ginger Ale: $3.50; (think I had coffee without being charged for it). The Greek adds 20% gratuity to each check. (They're completely up front about that: it's prominently noted on the menu.) I added some additional tip for the extra help my server gave me. HIGHLY...

This is a favorite spot for my fiance and I when we go in for date night and go in on weekends. We always sit at the bar and the service is so amazing. However tonight we had a family get together for my fiancés birthday! Btw we didn’t mention that because we were there for good food not anything free. We strictly came here because we love it so much annd bragged about how good it was at this spot so we sat against the wall and got a different server who was too young or something because she acted like we were too complicated when ordering our meal. I apologized about how particular we were and we tipped very well on top of the gratuity. She had a bit of an attitude with us. We asked for a box; boxed some food to take for another family member who was really excited to try the meal since they were at work and could not make it but when we got back from the bathroom she had it thrown out and said there was nothing she could do. I will be back but to our family that we bragged about the place to, was completely not satisfied and lost potential customers. Wish we had our normal server this would have totally been avoided 👎🏼

So basically great place but hopefully you get the right server! Because no matter what you spend, certain girls will not make your experience what it...
