Greektown Parking Garage — Local services in Detroit

DO NOT PARK HERE.

The company operating this parking garage are nothing but scam artists and they should be ashamed of their predatory practices that are taking advantage of people. There is no clear signage stating that this parking garage charges anything for parking, the ticket machine has a sign over stating that you don’t need a ticket and to just pull in and park. Similarly there is a sign on the payment kiosk when leaving the garage as well.

There is no clear signage anywhere within the parking garage stating that you need to have or setup a Metropolis Payments account in order to receive a bill for the parking fare. If you don’t have this account you will not get any bill until they mail you a late fee/unpaid parking notice.

I parked here for 45 minutes, the parking fare on the notice states I owed $10.00 and because it’s late I also have a $20.00 notice fee, totaling $30 for 45 minutes of parking.

This company is an absolute joke, and filing a dispute will maybe, at best, get you a discounted rate on the notice fee. They state there is clear signage about how to pay or scanning to park QR codes but that is a complete lie.

I am fighting them currently with this. Absolutely ridiculous.

Update: After asking to speak to a supervisor I was able to get the fee down to a “non-adjustable processing fee” of $5.25 plus the cost of parking bring it...

This company is absolutely terrible. Go to the parking garage and no gate at the entrance and no attendant. You apparently have to wander around to find signage to figure out how to pay. If you can't find it, they send you a notice in the mail and tack on a $20 "notice fee".

If you contact them, they "graciously" knock "50%" off your total fees by doing this: "Please be advised that I am willing to reduce the ticket fine by 50% for your two unpaid parking fare notices. For license plate xxxxxx, this will reduce your total from $36.00 to $28.63, which includes the $5.25 non-adjustable processing fee. For license plate xxxxxx, your total will be reduced from $40.00 to $32.63." Last I checked, 50% of 36 is 18 and 50% of 40 is 20. They must be using some kind of common core math.

Highly recommend parking ANYWHERE ELSE. Please don't park there but if you need to use the actual parking garage for anything, you might as well use it as a dumpster or public bathroom.

As stated in another review, this was the most horrible urban parking experience I’ve ever encountered. You have to use your credit/debit card to get in and out of the garage. The card readers require multiple attempts before the gate will lift. Following Super Cross last night, there was only 1 exit lane open and the attendant had to stand there and operate the card reader for every single person. It took us over an hour to get out. People came down from the upper levels and were yelling at the attendant. He handled the situation very well. My advice to the attendant is to find another job. These issues were identified over a year ago and management failed to fix the problem. That tells me that they have no respect for the employee. Find another job dude, call me, I’ll help...
