I have to speak on Slows' customer service because it is UNPARALLELED. Last weekend, I placed a large, kinda complicated catering order because I was planning a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend, who I was due to pick up at the airport. After getting back home, I realized I was missing a few items. It was a large mac n cheese and a large side of the pit smoked beans. I knew I didn't have time to drive back down to Slows because I needed to pick up my bf at DTW, so I figured I was just looking at a partial refund to my card or something, which was disappointing.
As it were, I was NOT refunded, because Slows' angel of a manager, Jamie, packed up my missing items, got into her car, and personally delivered the items to my home 20+ minutes away. She had the stuff delivered before I even returned from the airport with my boyfriend, and kindly brought with her free cornbread loaves. It was so above and beyond anything I was expecting. I have never had a restaurant undertake such generous remedial measures in response to a simple mistake. All the food was totally delicious (obviously, it was Slows), and I think the 1,000+ other positive reviews make it clear that Slows' food is amazing, but I wanted to come on here to really shout of the customer service, and specifically manager Jamie. The pit smoked beans ended up being a huge hit and were completely polished off, so I'm especially glad that they made their way to the party.
Disclaimer: I don't know if this is how Slows always remedies takeout errors (when and if they get them), but it is how they rectified the issue last Sunday, and for that I am so grateful. Thank you Slows management and THANK...
Read moreI went there for ribs barbecue and macaroni and cheese. I got the macaroni and cheese, but had to settle for rib tips instead. The ribs are rather expensive: The half-slabs cost $21.00 and the full-slabs cost $30.00 (I saw the menu only once, so I could be wrong on that latter price). Those include two sides, which is appreciated; however, they don't have many sides to choose from. I'd seen the macaroni and cheese; the waffle fries; the sweet potato mash; and the cole slaw, and those are all. I also had the sweet potato mash, and I must tell you: I won't order that again. I do intend to go there again, only to order the macaroni and cheese, and waffle fries. The rib tips were wonderful, for having more meat than those I've had at another place. So I could reorder those on my next visit, but I intend to gravitate toward the half-slabs. Hopefully, I'll be able to afford them. I have yet to finish eating the sweet potato mash. It doesn't taste good, I must admit. There's also their chili cheese fries, with scallions (basically green onions). I have to try those! At least those aren't white or red onions. Now, aside from their two tables inside, they have two very long tables, with benches, but I really wouldn't want to sit at either one. No offense, but I'm not in league with sitting among people while eating. Plus, these tables don't have umbrellas to shelter anyone from birds flying overhead. Seriously, what is the last thing you'd want while you're eating? You know---I needn't say it! I'm glad Slow's has two locations---here and at Michigan Avenue and Fourteenth Street. Go check either/both...
Read moreThe evening girl at the counter is the rudest staff and the cook thinks it is funny. Her devilish crazy unnecessary negative attitude will affect customers coming in. I asked about pulled pork and she said none tonight. I asked would it be any tomorrow, she said she didn't know. Another guy came out and I asked him and she interrupted and said I'm going to help you when I get off the phone. I proceeded to ask him if they would have pulled pork tomorrow, he said yes. After she finished 2 calls, she rudely said can I take your order. I proceeded to order rib tip dinner and she just started tripping talking rudely saying that I had an attitude and God told her to say that. I said ma'am you seem to have an attitude and she said well you don't have to order here. I went outside not to stoop to her ignorant level. My daughter wanted peach cobbler. I came back in and asked if peach cobbler was available. She said yes and another customer came in. He said it smells good in here, she said I'm not talking to you I'm helping her. I said how much is my peach cobbler? She said wait, I'm ringing everything up. I said you told me to go somewhere else. She said well you came back in and a bunch of other ignorant nonsense. She was rude to me and the other customer. We laughed at the nonsense, she continued talking extremely rude and ignorant. I ordered from SLOWS TO GO BBQ, that was near by. Tasted great! But that type of customer service explains the Black businesses don't flourish at times, rude ignorant aching staff...
