I just stayed at this hotel on January 31 of 2025. This is a new hotel that is in a great location. My interaction with staff was the best I have ever come across in the hotel industry. The front desk receptionist, Belinda was kind and courteous when I called her over the phone and asked her questions about parking.
She had explained to me several different options that were in the area. By the way parking is right next-door and was a convenient walk. When we checked in, we were greeted by Belinda who could write a book and teach a class on customer service. She was kind courteous and made sure that you did not have any further questions. Belinda could teach/manage other employees at other hotels as to what customer service should look like.
My wife and I ate dinner at the hotel and she had one of the best drinks she has ever had. The steak was phenomenal and the meatballs were great as well.
I am a picky person when it comes to cleanliness, and our room did not disappoint. The ice maker and water dispenser was located near the elevator. The bed was clean and comfortable. The shower had impressive tile work that was carefully crafted. The amenities in the room included a great view, new modern TV, safe, and miniature refrigerator.
The lobby had a great fireplace that was nice to sit by and enjoy a drink after walking in a cold Detroit winter.
This place raises the bar on the hotel industry in general and should be the benchmark as to what other hotels should strive to be. All of the staff here did an exceptional job and deserve to be commended. The next time I come back to Detroit, This place will be at the top of the...
Read moreAs stated in previous reviews the rooms are small but clean. When entering the hotel the main level has a strong mold smell, this smell continues thru the elevators and I was very concerned the room would smell of mold to but thank goodness it did not. This can’t be good for guests or employees and should be looked into. Unknowingly booked on a night with a large amount of activities downtown, it meant the bar/restaurant was overwhelmed- staff had a difficult time keeping up and figuring out who had been served. Walk across the street to the Eagle they will fee you in short order and it will be great. ||Unsure what this building used to be but as it was updated sound proofing was not a consideration. As events conclude the street noise is clearly audible even to the high floors on the opposite side of the hotel, this can be very disruptive and was surprised ear plugs were not a room amenity. A water station was available it was accidentally discovered which was appreciated, especially since the in room water is not regular water something hip I’m sure but for a traveler, not something to brush teeth with. No ironing boards only a steamer and it is not effective for wrinkles earned after sitting on a hot tarmac for a connection. ||The biggest plus- the valet- talk about a hard working group that is spot on in the service category! Thank you!! The staff are pleasant there just isn’t enough of them. The entry street is very narrow plan accordingly to wait your turn.||Would stay again especially if the mold...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel given its proximity to Little Caesar's Arena since we were in town for a Red Wings game. It is about a 7-8 minute walk to the arena and we had no issues coming or going. The hotel itself is on the newer side and it was lovely. It requires key card access to the rooms, which is nice and adds to the safety. You can choose to valet park your car, but it will cost you $48 per night! I think that big cities charging excessive valet parking fees is ludicrous in general, so I am not dissing this hotel in particular.|The down side. We chose to valet park our pickup truck and it was parked in a garage behind the hotel. The garage is a SOMA parking garage, so not technically owned by the hotel from what I understand. But PLEASE be leary of this garage as our truck was broken into overnight! The garage had nice metal gates that opened and closed upon entry and exit, which made it not easily accessible to pedestrians (or so it seemed). I did see a pedestrian door but am unsure if it stays locked or unlocked. So, I have no idea how this happened. We then had to go through the hassle of filling out a police report over the phone for all of the items stolen. Fortunately, everything can be replaced but it's still frustrating. I am certainly not saying this will happen to anyone else, but just be aware that the hotel will take no responsibility/accountability even though they choose to park the cars in...
