So, the food might be great, but we never got that far. My party arrived on their massively-promoted ".25 Wings & $1 Draft" night, taking place on Wednesdays between 5pm-8pm (Dine-In Only). Sounds like a great deal, right? Well, it might've been.
Service: Horribly understaffed, 3 extremely overworked servers on duty in a restaurant that was maybe at 90% capacity. 10 minutes after arriving and seeing 3 booths with detritus from whoever'd been there before, we chose one with a couple nearly empty draft glasses, and moved them to the end of the table, figuring if they came by to get us "another" round, we'd just order then. Once we managed to flag a very nice, very apologetic server down, we were informed that they were out of Coke Zero and Dr. Pepper, and were out of Wings ("This happens every week. They order them on Tuesday, they come in Wednesday morning, and we always run out. I don't know why they don't just order more wings.". Mind you, it was 6:15pm. Side note: Wings are an item on the regular menu, so are they shipping in frozen for Wednesdays, then making them for real the rest of the week?
We got our drinks, placed our order, and then the regret set in. This was a bad decision, and we should've just left then. I was a longtime supporter of Tony B's, previously in the same location, where the food was Always excellent, the prices ($12 for a 1/2 lb classic cheeseburger + fries) more than fair, and the servers knew regulars when they came in. Again, this is Nothing against the servers, they were doing the best with what they had.
After 30 minutes or so, we hadn't heard a peep, which was understandable given the staffing issues. Apparently there are "Usually only 2 of us.". And then it happened. I watched 2 tables who had come in after us get 2-3 baskets of Wings delivered simultaneously. That was it for us, and we politely went to the server, cancelled our order, assured her it was Not her service, and tipped her 70% of the cost of the fountain drinks as we left.
For all the hype on Facebook, and all the good reviews, we might've just come on an "off night". Based on my first experience, and likely my last, if I decide to pay $17-$25 for a burger and fries, it won't be here. I don't care how great the food is. Owners/Managers: Don't overwork your servers. Kitchen Staff: Communicate with them when you're actually out...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews for experiences at restaurants unless there is a very specific reason. Came here wanting to try something new for breakfast. We tried to come in the past but arrived to late. We got there at 9:37 this morning and I asked a waitress if breakfast was still being served. The waitress made it seem as though breakfast was over at 10:00. I got my wife and kids in and sat down. Took a few minutes for a server to come and get our drink order and she took our food order at the same time because it was almost 10:00 and she said if we wanted breakfast we needed to get our order in, mind you the menu states that breakfast is served until 10:30. We then waited for almost an hour for a pretty simple breakfast. The entire time we were waiting on our food we could hear the cook staff talking about how they wouldn't be able to cook certain items because they no longer had any ready to be cooked, like the single pancake that I ordered. The server had to come out and talk to us at one point because they only had one piece of sausage and I had ordered a breakfast burrito with sausage in it and my wife ordered sausage with her 2 egg breakfast. My wife switched to bacon. Food finally came out, minus my pancake, and it was decent. I would not rave about the quality of the breakfast. My wife was not able to eat her grits because they were not fully cooked and still had dry bits in them. The servers were doing the best that they could with the situation that the kitchen was putting them in. It seemed to me that by the way the cook staff was talking and what we could hear they were more worried about switching to lunch before all of the breakfast orders were completed. In my opinion if a business is going to serve breakfast until a certain time then they need to be prepared to handle orders until that time. I personally will not patronize this...
Read moreI want SO BAD, to give this 5, because the food was absolutely delish, but the service was pretty rough. Servers were SUPER sweet, just not any sense of urgency or speed to them. We waited almost a full 20 minutes to be acknowledged, and closer to 30 to get our drinks (she forgot, so delivered with the appetizer). There were only 4 other tables in there, 3 servers, but only one seemed to be working, while the others were in the kitchen area mostly.
On to the good parts tho, the Bison nachos were really good, the burgers were FANTASTIC though, couldn't say one bad thing about the food, the food was so good, I could almost dismiss the service (plus the servers were very nice when we saw them), but waiting so long for a beverage really started it off rough, we almost left, but I'm glad we stayed. I got a Patty Melt Smashburger and OMG, everything was chefs kiss! (Better burger than the other local burger joint IMO)
LSDR, give it a shot, the food does not disappoint, and if you're not in a hurry, or thirsty, the gals there are very nice. (I know, I'm redundant)
Had the service been better, this would def be the best spot in Dickson for us.
Pricing is on par with quality and portion, we had plenty to take home getting an app and two entrees.
Will try again and update my review, as a former restaurant owner/server, sometimes there's kinks or an off night with service, hopefully the kitchen...
