In town for a road trip from Wichita and generally we liked the place. Good service. BUT DON'T ORDER WINE. Their wine is rot gut nasty. We both drink fairly inexpensive box wine at the higher quality level (i.e. Black Box) and we usually spend about $10 - $15 per bottle for bottled wine, so we are not wine snobs at all. My wife ordered their only Cab Sauvignon and it was super nasty. Tart and tasted like vinegar. Yuck. Our server graciously took the "one sip" glass back and replaced it at no extra charge for a scotch and water, although it was a bit watered down, but much better than the wine.
We both ordered the 12 oz. Ribeye with sides. My only complaint is that the steak, as is the case in most high volume restaurants tend to be thinner than genuine steak houses, so they can be grilled faster to keep ticket times down, so I understand that, having been in the steak business myself. What I will say about their ribeye is that is was cooked a bit past medium, but when cut into, was acceptable and the flavors were really good. HOWEVER, both ribeyes were tough and chewy, in spite of them not being "overcooked", which points to quality of the cut. I have cooked thousands of ribeyes and no matter how thick or thin they are, with all of the marbling, they are always tender, if cooked anywhere from medium to medium rare, to rare. A good cut of ribeye should always be tender to the bite, if it is not cooked beyond medium. Central Station needs to "up" their game on the quality of ribeye they are buying and grilling. After all, you are in cattle country. I do give them high marks for overall experience and service, but I can't approve of a $29 ribeye that is a tough cut of meat...
Read moreFood and service was the absolute worst I've ever had! Took a very long time for a server to even great us to ask for our drink order, with several of them just standing around. We came well after dinner rush and they were not busy. Lemonade was horrible, tea was horrible. We went there after reading all the amazing reviews which said the chips and salsa were the best they ever had. We paid 3.50 for queso and received a very small jelly like substance that never got touched it was gross. Chips were hard and stale bag chips. I ordered their special, fried tacos and then a side order of potato tracks( potato skins), my boyfriend ordered chicken fried steak dinner, and my daughter ordered a salad and a baked potato. My boyfriends food came out first, then my tacos no side, my daughters salad didn't come out until after w finished with our food or half of mine as my potatoes didn't come till much later when my daughters finally arrived. They brought me a baked potato I told her they were wrong and not what I ordered. Thats when the waitress finally told me they were out of the potato tracks. And not to mention when she brought my tacos she slammed the plate down on the salsa bowl dumping it all over the table. Gave a half hearted sorry before running g off to "get napkins" came back with my daughters food and no napkins, she was gone over 10 minutes the first time and several more minutes the second time. I had the table clean and food gone before I got napkins. Just a horrible experience. Looks kinda of cool but not worth it and our ticket for 3 people was over 60 dollars for sub par bar food that tasted like nasty grease and...
Read moreThis restaurant came highly recommended as a “must go” for our road trip vacation. We arrived at ~7pm. The hostess told us it would be a 15-20 min wait. (We were taken to our table 45 min later). We were quickly given our drinks and we ordered. I was thinking - yay! Dinner. They brought us our salads (and other reviewers weren’t lying about the ranch…it was very good). Then we waited; and waited; and waited. Our waitress didn’t make eye contact and was impossible to flag down. After nearly an hour, I managed to flag down the hostess and she got someone to check on our food/talk to us. At 9, we were finally served dinner. I was so excited, but the pepper poppers (they call them “dead man’s handles”) were commercial poppers that you can buy frozen all day. My chicken fried steak was a “chuck wagon patty” that you can also buy frozen. It wasn’t hand breaded deliciousness that I’d been eating all over the west on this vacation. It also had been sitting under the heat in the back so long that my gravy had that icky skin thing that gravy that sits out gets. My green beans were good, and my husband’s chicken was fine. The manager did talk to us and we were given a small discount off our meals. They told us that they had gotten busy. I understand that, but even if the kitchen is in the weeds (which I find hard since so much of my dinner was - I believe- bought frozen), there is no excuse for the waitress ghosting us and not telling us that they were behind. TLDR: it took 2 hours for dinner; the food was less than mediocre; we were ghosted by...
