Let me start by saying that I usually love this place! And if you can see, have given it great reviews in the past. The only reason I had to come right a less starred review is because I brought my friend here (being very excited to show him spot) and we had a very mediocre meal which is not my usual experience here.
My boyfriend, friend, and I came in on a Thursday during lunch time in which the restaurant was packed; we got lucky and got the last table to accompany a party of three. We all got our order in quickly with the always friendly staff and the food came out in normal time. I ordered the Beef Pad Se Ew which all the pad se ews depending on price are $12.00-$14.00. It was delicious and came with a huge portion----enough to take home with me and eat as another meal. I also loved that my pad se ew came with Chinese broccoli rather than American broccoli which many other asian places make the mistake of using and for a thai girl like me is a big no-no. I was very happy with my meal.
The reason I write this review though is for my two other guests that I dragged here since their meal really wasn't up to the usual standard I expect at 107 taste. My boyfriend ordered the Cheesy Ramen On Fire $10.50. I know, I know, Cheesy Ramen? His thinking was that everything else he had eaten here had been so good that maybe this strange new twist would be too.....it was not. The cheesy ramen: stir-fry noodles with onion, chicken, bacon, cabbage, spicy paste and mozzarella cheese. First off, the cheese was not mozzarella and more of a Mexican style cheese. They also used way too much cheese which its flavor did not pair well at all with the spicy paste so it became a glob of cheese noodles. Also, what disappointed me the most was how small the portion size was compared to my huge meal. It was served on a very plate and looked the equivalent of one sad packet of ramen.
My friends meal was not as bad as of a situation but he ordered the Thai Special Fried Ramen: egg, chicken, shrimp, hot dog, pineapple, bean sprout, onion, spinach. His was equally tiny and seemed to lack in all the ingredients listed so his just looked like a sad plate of noodles.
I'm very disappointed that I hyped this place up so much and it was such a fail meal to bring friends here to! I wish I would've told them what to order but I really believed everything was great here. I guess just don't order the stir fry ramens! Everything else I've eaten here has been delicious and served much...
Read moreNestled in the cozy confines of 107 Taste, I embarked on a flavorful expedition through South Korean-inspired delights and Japanese culinary staples. The restaurant's laid-back ambiance set the stage for a memorable dining experience, where freshly prepared dishes arrived promptly, promising an adventure in every bite.
Kicking off the feast with the Korean fried chicken-style honey garlic chicken wings, I found myself enamored by the perfect marriage of crispiness and saucy goodness. The subtle sweetness of honey intertwined with the savory notes of garlic, offering a tantalizing introduction to the meal. Moving on to the Takayoki, its bite-sized seafood morsels delighted without overwhelming, showcasing the chef's mastery in achieving delicate flavors.
The Black Pepper Yaki Udon stole the spotlight as the main course, arriving piping hot and brimming with a delightful medley of chicken, BBQ pork, and steak. Each slurp of the noodles revealed a harmonious blend of flavors, cementing its status as a must-try dish. Concluding the culinary escapade, the coconut crepe cake presented a decadent finale, reminiscent of a coconut-infused tres leches. While the dessert's price point raised eyebrows, its rich flavors and creamy texture left a lasting impression.
Guiding me through this culinary odyssey was Sandy, whose friendly demeanor and insightful recommendations elevated the dining experience. Despite minor reservations about pricing, 107 Taste offered a commendable value proposition, with generous portions and impeccable service.
In reflection, 107 Taste emerges as a haven for food enthusiasts seeking authentic Asian flavors and laid-back vibes. Aspiring foodies and seasoned palates alike would do well to explore its offerings. My gratitude extends to Sandy for her role in making this maiden visit truly memorable. In essence, 107 Taste beckons as a playground for gastronomic adventurers, promising an unforgettable journey with...
Read moreThis restaurant was very promising initially. We visited this place 4 times in the past 2 months. We mainly got the tonkotsu ramen and it was amazing the first 3 times we went. It reminded my husband a lot of the ramen he had when he went to Japan. However, the last time we went it was not good. The broth was no longer creamy and tasted like they watered it down and added a ton of oil. Our tempura shrimp we ordered to go with our tonkotsu was however cooked nicely. If you get the tonkotsu with shrimp tempura we suggest you ask to have it on the side otherwise it is put in the tonkotsu and can be quite messy to eat as the broth makes the crispy coating turn soft. The restaurant is overall clean and the staff are super friendly. This is the type of restaurant that is team oriented and you may have multiple servers helping you to ensure good service. The service is one thing that we really loved about this place. They recently expanded their inside area to have more tables and the staff was just as friendly even though they might be taking care of more tables since the expansion. We will no longer be visiting though because this last visit ruined it for us with how bad the food was with the lack of consistency with the way it was prepared. Perhaps this was just an off day for the cook and hopefully this was just a one time issue because this place is enjoyable to go to when the...
