Casa Mariano: A Culinary Gem in Doral
Casa Mariano offers an extraordinary dining experience that perfectly blends Mediterranean fusion with subtle Argentinian influences. Although the restaurant does not officially label itself as offering Argentinian cuisine, the nuanced touch is unmistakable—a reflection of Chef Mariano’s Argentinian roots, as confirmed during our delightful interaction with him.
The creativity of the menu is second to none, with each dish showcasing an impeccable balance of flavors, textures, and presentation.
Impeccable Service From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely impeccable. We were attended to by a phenomenal professional waiter whose expertise and attention to detail elevated our experience even further. Every aspect of the service was spot-on, with thoughtful recommendations and flawless timing that ensured we felt well taken care of throughout the evening.
Starters That Set the Bar High The mussels, cooked in a homemade tomato sauce, were an excellent introduction, delivering robust flavors with every bite. The dates, filled with goat cheese and honey, wrapped in bacon, were extraordinary—a perfect harmony of sweet, savory, and smoky flavors.
The empanadas were another highlight, with both the pork loin and pork ribs options standing out. The execution was flawless, with a dry, crisp exterior free of excess oil, and a rich, flavorful filling.
Main Courses That Shine Among the standout main dishes were the lamb chops served with risotto, a perfectly cooked and seasoned plate that was both tender and satisfying. The homemade gnocchi deserves special mention; incredibly light and fluffy, it demonstrated a masterful execution that is hard to achieve. Paired with a homemade sauce, it was a five-star dish.
The duck, crusted and served atop risotto, was a delightful combination of textures and flavors. Similarly, the sea bass, with its fresh aroma and delicate crust, melted in the mouth, making it a memorable choice.
Even the Caesar salad deserves praise—it was one of the most creative and flavorful renditions we’ve ever encountered.
Decadent Desserts The dessert selection was the perfect finale. The chocolate cake with banana ice cream and fresh strawberries was indulgent and decadent, a must-try. The flan, reimagined with passion fruit and honey, offered a unique twist on a classic, while the tiramisu was exceptional, rivaling the best Italian restaurants.
Wine Pairings and Atmosphere The wine selection was equally impressive. We enjoyed Merlot, Prosecco, and Pinot Noir, each complementing the meal beautifully. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, enhanced by the humble and welcoming nature of both the owner and Chef Mariano himself.
Final Thoughts Casa Mariano is a rare gem where creativity, quality, and hospitality converge. The impeccable service, extraordinary food, and thoughtful attention to every detail made for an unforgettable dining experience. The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the high caliber of the food and service.
From the starters to dessert, every dish was executed to perfection. We left extremely satisfied and grateful for such a phenomenal experience. This is a place we’ll return to time...
Read moreI wrote a review on Yelp and commented it to the friend who took me there for my first time as you need to have been there once to know the place. We arrived around 12:45 pm, and a few tables were occupied , we were greeted and shown to a table right away . The server told us about the specials and left us while we were talking. A while after she came and took our order, 2 tuna tartar and I pan con tomate. The tartar looked ok. The tuna color was bright, and they seemed to have been satisfied. You are going to think that I am the difficult one, I do not just know well what I like. I have had in Spain and Catalounia pan con tomat', pan de crystal, good extra virgin and grated tomatoes preferably heirloom ripe no seed just pure flesh. Well, it came very short, the bread not de crystal a substitute , a bad clone, tomatoes no flavors. Next came the main entrée, 2 filets mignon with a piece of foie gras on a bed of risotto, sound great for a lunch on a Friday in Miami a great way to start the weekend. I ordered Bacalao al pil pil, same ate it before it is on of these challenging dishes, that if you don't know out, don't, but he did let's me give give you the results in the orders we started. Filet mignon meat cheap appearance the filet was soft, not standing proud as the center cut does, and the foie gras totally shrunken ridiculously sitting, almost inexistant over cooked and bitter Bacalao al pil pil, I am still trying to figure it out. The piece of Cod loin portion was of a good size, but still watery on the inside from coming frozen, I do not object at all to this product neing frozen,I buy it but defist it properly and dry it out before cooking. Pil pil is the sauce that comes from the emulsion of the Bacalao secretion, and the olive oil technique is all in the shaking of the pan, the roasted garlic, and the small cayenne whole peper. Instead, I got a runny white mayonnaise with no taste.F you don't have the skilled people to cook , don't keep it on the menu. The dessert for me was the highlight of the meal, pavlova individual of passion fruit . It did say mango, but I the passion fruit were such a great substitute, then finish with a scoop of Coconut sorbet incredible. The bill was over 300 plus, to be honest. I would have said something if I had known the guest from before, but I remain silent, but as you can see, I am not, after all. Moral for the guests that have experienced fine dining at his best. I was not impressed Culinary...
Read moreCame to this place by a recommendation and after reading the reviews so I had high expectations but that changed after eating there. The restaurant is decorated in a very nice way. Once inside you don’t think you are in the middle of Doral in a small office center surrounded by some warehouses so it does have a nice atmosphere. But the food is not that great…let’s start by the service, the host was really nice and welcomes you with a smile and tries to accommodate you fast so you don’t have to wait which is nice. Once we were ready, we ordered a hot appetizer and 2 main dishes so they could come at the same time. Ordered the lamb baklava which it was good, not the greatest but I wish the meat could’ve been cut with a knife and not shredded meat, flavor wise was not bad but could not find the wow factor that everybody told me. Then we waited and waited, people that arrived after us were being served but not us, we asked, nothing they would only reply it’s coming, we waited close to 20 min to get our food after finishing the appetizer and that was the reason we order everything at once. After waiting that long the came and it was mediocre at best…two beef milanesas that were too thick, like almost 1/4 inch thick, sitting on top of a bland with zero salt DRY crumbly mashed potato with “smoked mushrooms” nothing smoked about them and also dry no sauce on the mushrooms and a chicken roulade with the same mashed potato no salt whatsoever and the taste of the chicken was not great either, season no salt…looked nice but when you try this nothing, I can cook a chicken with more flavor than this to be honest. We basically did not eat it so we brought it home as we had to leave in a hurry, tried it again at home but could not eat it…To me it’s not a good restaurant, not what people say about it, and especially for the price, I would not go back, we ended up paying $80, just on food that was not tasty at all, no wine just still water and no dessert. They should do better especially at this price range, very...
