I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. It was our first time trying Rakki, and our first omakase experience. We did the full omakase experience for $128 per person (welcome drink + 15 courses), but they have other omakase experiences that are a bit cheaper.
Chef Javier was great & very knowledgeable. Every course, he would explain what each ingredient was, why he prepared the dish as he did, & what flavors we can expect. The party next to us had some dietary restrictions, and Chef Javier was able to accommodate them by making them a different course that catered to their specific needs. The food tasted amazing. The fish was fresh & all the courses that Chef Javier curated were packed with unique flavors that went together well. My favorite bites were the chawanmushi (legitimately one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. It was so savory!), negitoro handroll, and the king salmon with caviar, but some of the courses are marked as “seasonal,” so they change depending on what ingredients are in season. Our seasonal sashimi course was greater amberjack sashimi with a mountain berry, and our seasonal limited nigiri course consisted of 3 nigiri: A5 wagyu with black truffle shavings, king salmon with caviar, & shrimp with a truffle mayo.
The only food item that I think was lacking a bit was the matcha tiramisu. It was still delicious, but next to the other dessert option (mango panna cotta) that was so phenomenal, the matcha tiramisu felt a bit lackluster. My tiramisu was a tad dry, but the sweetness level was perfect. It was not overly sweet, which I like. But, despite loving matcha tiramisu, I preferred the mango panna cotta, which I was pleasantly surprised by! I’m usually not a fan of panna cotta, but this was delicious. It was served in a chilled dish as well, which made it cold and refreshing. Sweet, tangy, light, tart… an absolute home run.
The presentation of everything was gorgeous. It really adds to the experience & makes it feel like a fancy, special occasion. Chef Javier made each course not only taste good but look good as well. The desserts were plated in such a cute way, & I loved the little golden flower spoons they served with them. The chopstick holders were also cute, as they had Sakura blossom ones (in both pink and white) as well as little origami cranes. It is clear that the owners and staff at Rakki have put in the time to make the restaurant beautiful, & as a customer I appreciate the attention to the small details.
The restaurant messaged me before our reservation to ask if we had any dietary restrictions/allergies, the names of everyone in our party (there were name plaques at our seats), & if we were celebrating a special occasion. I informed them it was my boyfriend’s birthday, & during the dessert course they sang happy birthday & brought out a card with a Polaroid they had taken of us earlier that night. The ambience of the restaurant was nice, & the service was also good. It was an intimate experience (there were only 6 guests in the whole restaurant including me & my boyfriend, & all 6 of us were seated at the counter for omakase).
The only thing I raised my eyebrow at was that apparently there is no tap water, so even if you get still water instead of sparkling you will still be charged ($3.50 per person). This honestly wasn’t really an issue for me though, since if you are paying for the omakase experience you’re already splurging a bit anyways. It just would’ve been nice to know because I would’ve ordered sparkling water or a soda instead if I was going to pay $3.50 regardless. But again, not really a big deal, & definitely not enough of an issue to warrant taking away a star when the rest of the experience was amazing. Gratuity is already included (18%), but Chef Javier was so great that I left an additional tip on top of that.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Rakki, & will be returning to try their à la carte/regular menu as well after such a positive first visit. If you are a foodie or someone who enjoys culinary adventures, you should stop by & give...
Read moreWe visited Rakki Sushi & Omakase for the first time on April 5, 2025, to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was truly amazing. At our seats, there were personalized name tags, the course was called Omakase Bite, and each dish was crafted beautifully and served at a perfect pace. We spent about an hour and a half enjoying the full course. At the end, they even photographed us and gave us a card with our picture and a birthday message — a very warm and memorable touch. The dishes were delicate, not overly spicy, and we were able to savor each one. That experience felt special and unforgettable.
Today, we returned to celebrate our wedding anniversary (we mentioned this twice in the reservation, along with our names). Unfortunately, the experience was very different. First, there were no name tags anymore — not a big deal, but it already felt less personal. We ordered the Omakase Express (since Bite was no longer offered), which included 10 dishes, and also added the Chef’s Signature Sampler with 3 more. To our surprise, all 13 dishes were served within just 30 minutes. They came out so fast that we couldn’t enjoy them properly, rushing through the meal. About 30% of the dishes were spicy, which my wife could not eat, and the heat overpowered the actual flavors. Finally, at the end, there was no photo, no congratulations, nothing to acknowledge our anniversary — which we had expected, based on our first visit. And for all this, we ended up paying about $230 for a 30-minute rushed dinner.
Sadly, this visit felt rushed, impersonal, and not at the level of our first experience. Because of these changes, we don’t see ourselves returning, as the restaurant seems to have moved away from what once made...
Read moreIf you’re looking for an unforgettable sushi experience, look no further than Rakki Sushi. I’ve had my fair share of sushi across different places, but nothing prepared me for the level of craftsmanship, precision, and sheer artistry that Sushi Master Javier brings to the table.
From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. But the real magic began when Javier, with the confidence of a true master, started preparing each piece before my eyes. The balance of flavors, the freshness of every ingredient, and the meticulous attention to detail were beyond impressive.
The standout of the night was his Omakase selection—a true journey through textures and tastes. The toro nigiri melted like butter, the uni was briny perfection, and the truffle-infused scallop left me speechless. But it wasn’t just about the ingredients; it was about the way Javier orchestrated each bite, elevating sushi to an experience rather than just a meal.
Beyond his technique, what made this experience even more special was Javier’s deep knowledge and passion for his craft. He explained the origin of each ingredient, the best way to enjoy it, and even recommended perfect sake pairings that enhanced the flavors in unexpected ways.
Rakki Sushi isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a destination for those who appreciate the fine art of sushi. And with Sushi Master Javier leading the way, it’s easily one of the best sushi experiences I’ve ever had.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 – A must-visit for...
