First time visiting this location as they're the same owners of La Fontana Ristorante which focuses mainly on Italian cuisine.
Doral Steakhouse has a little variety of steak but not much difference from their other location; actually I don't see the point of opening a place which almost the same food in both locations. I found about the restaurant from a friend who sent me a picture of their dessert, upon seeing it I had to witness the flavors for myself.
Upon checking in through Yelp; you get a free cocktail for those who love a free cocktail! We were a party of 3 plus a toddler. We didn't have to wait at all; then again the restaurant was a little empty.
Love the decor and we got the best waitress; she was so kind not with us adults but she had major patience for my goddaughter which not many waiter/waitress are. So that is a HUGE plus!
The bread upon you arriving is delicious! Off course we asked for more!
We ordered the 16 oz Prime Frenched Ribeye with a side of Mashed Potato (according to my was friend it was okay but nothing out of this world), kids menu Penne with Marinara Sauce (my goddaughter loved her dish especially because of the amount of Parmesan Cheese our waitress gave her, she loved it! - ps. She loved your pasta better than your other location), The Volcano Gnocchi (we loved it, the sauce was the best part; every bite was heaven!), The Barolo Ossobuco (for a 12 hour slow cooked it wasn't tender at all; and Barolo Red Wine Sauce was lacking on the red wine. It didn't taste much as a Barolo wine reduction - that sucked majorly!) and we finished it up with The Supermoist Cake (coconut based with rum and mixture of Tres Leche; wow amazing combination but the cake base needs major work on it; I get the idea but the cake ruined it for me!)
Loved their customer service, parking is free, everything extremely cleaned, loved the music! BUT the fact I drop one star is mainly because my friend’s food seemed to be not done at the moment. It tasted more like if you had it on the hot lamp and only the exterior of my Ossobuco was hot while the interior was room temperature so that was extremely disappointing.
Gotta visit when the restaurant is extremely packed to see how will the service/food changes. Also need to go back to try their other dishes since they didn't have many entrees...
Read moreUpon entering the quaint and inviting ambiance of the restaurant, we were immediately taken by its warm atmosphere and the meticulous presentation of each dish. The establishment promised an unforgettable dining experience, yet, regrettably, the flavors did not quite meet our expectations.
I decided to order the octopus salad, intrigued by its description and presentation. Visually, the dish was a work of art, with vibrant colors and a delicate arrangement that spoke volumes of the chef's attention to detail. However, the first bite revealed a significant oversight: the salad was excessively drenched in dressing, which overwhelmed the natural flavors of the octopus and accompanying ingredients. The dish lacked a textural contrast, missing a crunch that could have been provided by nuts or seeds, leaving the overall taste profile somewhat underwhelming.
My father, ever the optimist, opted for the waygu burger, expecting a culinary delight that would live up to the renowned standards of waygu. Unfortunately, the burger, while adequate in taste, fell short of our expectations. The hamburger meat was overcooked, stripping away the juiciness that one anticipates in a gourmet burger. His lukewarm endorsement of "pretty OK" was reflected in the fact that he left a portion of his meal untouched, a rare occurrence for someone who usually savors every bite.
On a brighter note, my grandmother's choice of the lamps (presumably lamb dishes) stood out as the highlight of our meal. The lamb was cooked to perfection, offering a rich palette of flavors that danced delightfully on the tongue. It was a redeeming feature in an otherwise disappointing culinary adventure, proving that the kitchen does have the capability to produce dishes of high quality.
In conclusion, while the restaurant excels in creating a welcoming atmosphere and presenting its dishes with undeniable flair, it seems to struggle with achieving a balanced flavor profile across its menu. A greater focus on the harmony of taste and texture, as well as consistency in the cooking process, could elevate the dining experience to match the high standards set by its ambiance and...
Read moreThis is truly one of those restaurants where you go to enlighten your taste buds and have a delightful evening whether you come with friends or family members. From the moment you walk in you are received with such warmth that creates this welcoming energy that lasts throughout the entire night. The feel of the restaurant is elegant, intimate, stylish and romantic (date night approved) My server, Natalia, had an extensive understanding of each dish and gave great advice when it came to what cocktails we should have ordered, by the way, do not miss out on trying out their creative mix of spirits, I personally loved the Spiced Margarita and their “Old-Fashioned.” The chef even came out to make a few recommendations that were absolutely top-notch. We proceeded to order and as the appetizers started coming out I found myself captivated by their presentations, from their carpaccio, to “The Salmon Twist” and the burrata, definitely one of the best ones I have had in the Miami restaurant scene in years, fresh and true to its own flavor. For entrees, we had the chef-recommended ‘Bistecca Alla Fiorentina’ accompanied by an exquisite choice of house dressings to top it and a mushroom risotto to pair this with. Each one of those flavors came together and danced in my mouth, with each flavor standing out one right after the other as I kept on sipping on my drink of choice. After a great meal, we chose to order at least one of every dessert option on the menu, I mean, how could we not? We were charmed to taste the delicious and profoundly rich options, presented in the most ingenuous ways that caught the eyes of every single diner in the table. The pavlova is simply out of this world, served with a great selection of mixed berries and a glorious touch of fresh pistachio that came thorough with every spoonful I had. I do believe I will become a regular of La Fontana Steakhouse, and I certainly must come back to try their diverse selection of wine that includes light, complex, earthy, opulent and refined options that neither I nor the person reading this want to miss...
