I’ve given Glaze Tea a try about 4-5 times now between the Doraville location an newly opened Duluth location. I’ve been disappointed almost every time, but I’ve kept giving it another chance because of people’s high reviews hoping I would find something I like, but it has not happened yet so I probably won’t make it a 6th time.
Drinks: I’ve tried about 4-5 drinks across the menu in addition to the hot pot. The hot pot is a cute idea but definitely a little bit gimmicky for what it is. Cute aesthetic photos but nothing I would buy again. I’ve ordered their Tieguanyun Milk Tea twice, and they’ve tasted like water with creamer mixed in both times. I ordered it twice to make sure it wasn’t a fluke (once at Doraville, once at Duluth). The boba itself is good. I’ve gotten their Jasmine Milk Tea with the hot pot as well as separately with the fermented rice. There is some fragrance to it but personally tastes very watered down milky to me as well but I also prefer a strong tea taste. The Citrus Berry drink is also just okay. My brother’s red robe milk tea might have been the best of the bunch. I’m sure there must be some good drinks here but to receive so many misses does not inspire to give it one more chance.
Price: This place is ridiculously expensive for no reason. I believe the Cheapest drink is $6.99 and does not include any topping or foam. I don’t know if their prices are so high because they want to use the Chowbus kiosk which charges maybe 15-18% service fee, the drinks are not worth it.
Service: Non-existent. They use a self service kiosk which is fine but there are very rarely words of greetings when you walk into the store. I typically like to be left alone to my devices but with such a complex menu I think it would help for staff to be more welcoming and make it feel like you are able to ask them questions about the menu. For new visitors it would be hard to get any recommendations because they definitely do not promote taking orders at the counter.
Atmosphere: Props to whoever designed everything!! Definitely has my respect in terms of aesthetics and I the use of paper cups is better for the environment and reminds me of Taiwan. The menu is very aesthetically pleasing but the names of the drinks are pretty useless. (I am very confused as to why a business would name one of their drinks “Mediocre”)
This is just largely my personal preference as a consumer that Glaze Tea is not for me but I think I also do not have the same flavor preferences as their...
Read moreAfter 4 visits to Glaze Tea, I'm finally ready to write this review. We first discovered Glaze tea by coming here thinking it's Infinitea but they shut down and we saw the sign for Glaze Tea so we just went in. The place was lacking a lot of stuff and they didn't have much stuff from their menu so we left.
Our second visit was my sister saw their advertising on either tiktok or IG and we were fascinated by it so we went back once more. We got there after work around 8pm and they were closing at 9pm. The workers here are super nice to even take us around 8ish and let us sit there to chit chat a little. They didn't have their durian cake box that day due to the shortage of their containers so we order the DIVINE milk tea which contains Durian. I never had durian milk tea before and it was so so so good. My sister had one of their green milk tea with the tiramisu foam and it was delicious as well. We had the hot pot milk tea and Jesus it was so good; we have the milk mochi, creme brûlée pudding, taro paste, grass jelly and ice cream with jasmine green tea.
Our third visit was the next night. They finally had the durian cake box and just let me start off by saying; the box was tiny but it filled with flavors. They put so much durian that I was tired of eating it. We also ordered some snacks, the seasoning that they used makes the food smell a little but if you can surpass the smell; it's delicious. I tried their fruit tea today and it quench the thirst with my sister ordered the mango pomelo and the divine tea again to share.
Our fourth visit was with our company, which, has like 12 people. When we got there, the private room was occupied with two ladies and after we asked the person in the front if we can move two tables together so we can sit outside; we went in and asked those two to go outside so we can have the area. I think he knows we will be loud as heck. We proceed to ordered a lot of varieties to share. I had to let all of them try the milk tea hot pot so we ordered 3 of those, all of us have one tea each and 3 savory snacks each. We will continue to support this place but we wish to have this location closing to my house.
Until next...
Read moreOkay place to get bubble tea and snacks. Everything is overpriced. If you only want to spend $5 on tea, don't come here. Majority of the bubble teas are $9! Some are $15.
The bubble tea I got, durian pomelo needed more sweetener for my taste (I asked for 100% it tasted like 25% sweetener, it has all the "aroma" of durian but no sweetness), i didn't taste any pomelo, and the cheese cream was super light as well but if you like very lightly sweetened beverages and snacks, this is the place for you. The other drinks might be better but I didn't try them but if you put durian on a menu, I feel like you should be confident in the flavor profiles. So I don't know if I have hope for the other drinks.
The rose cake had a nice texture, but it was also so lightly sweetened I couldn't quite pick up on the flavor until it was my last bite. You can tell everything is carefully crafted, but i just wasn't impressed by the flavor overall. Overpriced, $16 the size of two playing cards... Ridiculous.
The French fries were amazing though. Best fries I've had in a long time. And they were the only thing reasonably priced at $4.
The staff are okay. Not super helpful or friendly, but just kinda average. They told me that I should look at the kiosk for questions about the tea (instead of just answering my questions). I didn't like that because the kiosk digital order machine doesn't have real pictures, they're all cartoonish illustrations (non realism) and have creative names like "Wood Sage Tea" but have no wood or sage. So although it's very cute to look at, it's a bit confusing given some of the names. Some of the drinks in the picture look like soft serve smoothies, but then when you get it, they're like a regular milk tea.
The facility is beautifully designed, clean and nicely laid out. Wheelchair accessible. Good amount of space to stretch out. Not crammed. Window seating if you want to sit alone. Gender neutral bathrooms. I didn't test out the wifi but it seems like it could be a nice place to work if you don't mind the prices and...
