Now you know!!! On Sundays in Atlanta, we Brunch!!!! As such, this Sunday we ended up at The Kitchen Bar & Grill in Douglasville. The location is off in the cut but I promise itās super easy to find. Parking is kind of tight so I would suggest carpooling if you are going in a group.
As you walk up, the artwork that fills the windows is absolutely stunning. The visuals set the mood for what you are about to experience inside before you even know it. As you open the door, your eyes are immediately drawn to the artwork that is inside as well. The space is super small, however, they have made great dimensional use of the space, just prepare to not have too much elbow room.
Immediately as we stepped into the establishment, the staff greeted us with a warm welcome. As it was Sunday, the usual menu is closed out and the day is taken over by the All You Can Eat Soul Food. Babeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Iām talking about HOME COOKING for $30.00⦠Ok. After you seated ourselves, the waitress came over. She was super pleasant, all smiles, and all about service. She took our drink order and told us to grab our plates and enjoy.
When I say Spreaddddddddddddddd. Iām talking:
Mashed Potatoes Yams Collards String Beans Baked Chicken Salmon Salisbury Steak Corn Muffins And Moreā¦.
Ooh chile, they showed out with this selection.
As I am a picky eater and it is too hot out (for me) to be eating that heavy, I had:
Ham Collards Salmon Corn Muffins
The Ham was Amazingggggggggg. Baby listenā¦. Give me that ham and let me take it home. Whoever made that meat understood the art of a well balanced Brown Sugar rub to balance out the porkness of the Ham. (My pork eaters understand me.).. The meat was juicy, tender, and bomb. Iām not gone lie, Iām go back for the ham alone. Ha.
The Collards were REAL. These aināt no canned greens. Somebody's aunt made these after she chopped them with her hood knife. Yes Lorddddddd. The greens were Greenin how they should be.
The baked Salmon was disrespectfully good. It wasnāt dry. It wasnāt soggy. Whoever made this salmon went to salmon school and they got an A++. Ooh chile!!!!! Iām having flashbacks bout how good the Salmon was.
The cornbread muffins were soft and buttery. They had the natural corn flavor with the perfect amount of sugar. They provided the sugar balance to the salt filled options that come with Soul Food.
Oh yeah, and the Sweet Teaā¦. Dear Auntie⦠You Did That and I needed one to go. Ha.
Though I live nowhere near Douglasville, Iāll be back. And imma get me some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had been hearing about this restaurant for several months and today I decided to give it a try. I try to not have high expectations for any restaurant especially on my initial visit. When I walked through the door there was only one couple sitting inside and it looks like they were finishing their meal. I was greeted by a young man who told me that he will be with me shortly. I reviewed the menu as I waited and initially wanted to try the fried flounder meal, but while waiting I saw the 3 wings meal being plated. I was initially drawn to the 3 large wings that had the perfect golden brown color, so I asked the server to change for the 3 wing plate with fried okra along with mac & cheese. Upon receiving my order I checked my order and tasted one of the okra and it was good and š„, so I couldn't wait to get home to tear into these perfectly fried wings. Well, this is where the disappointment fell. Looks are very deceiving. Let me just say that they could cook the wings just slightly longer. Cracker Barrel chicken has more flavor than these wings. Suggestion for the owner/ cook. With the size of these wings if you don't want to cook or season them longer you may want to try brining them. This will make your wings more tender and add flavor. Next, I was slightly disappointed with the mac&cheese. They definitely listened to Paula Dean because a whole lot of butter was in those noodles, but you forgot to be generous with the cheese. Try adding some smoked paprika for a different flavor profile also. Again, the fried okra was the best thing going for this meal this time. Although i won't be in a hurry to come back, I can't say that I wouldn't patronize this restaurant, but I hope that I have a better experience with other items on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI decided to attend this establishment upon hearing a great review from Instagram. It was my first time trying it at which I wanted to have a birthday meal. Upon arriving, I immediately noticed that their parking lot was limited in space.
Once we entered, we were immediately greeted by someone that told us that on Sundays is their All You Can Eat Buffet and the price is going to be $30 a person. That price included food, your drink, and a dessert.
Since I came to celebrate my birthday meal, I decided to stay. Our waiter was pleasant and we immediately started to get our food. Of course, the atmosphere was crowded and the food items were slinder. I decided to try Meat Loaf, Collard Greens, Mac & Cheese, and a piece of chicken. Overall the food was a 3/10. Iām being gracious; however, my company did not like the food. The meat loaf was tough, Mac & Cheese was Only Noodles & Butter, Collards was Welled Seasoned and Great, and the piece of Chicken was very dry. Unfortunately, I feel that their establishment was overrated and several others that came to dine in appeared to be unsatisfied as well. As my wife and I noticed several people having to speak with management about their quality of food. I truly believe that the establishment has potential but they may need to reconsider not having a buffet on Sundays or just having a limited food menu for Sundays buffet to accommodate the cooks, improve on the quality of food, and being mindful of the customers at...
