I seriously don't understand the hype about this place. The only reason for the second star is the fries. And definitely only if you get them fresh on site.
My first experience there a few months ago was: good fries, nice that almost everything is gluten free, but otherwise, meh. The second visit for a to-go order was worse.
Both times my boneless chicken was overcooked, dry and stringy, and both times the sauce and breading was almost flavorless.
My heat tolerance is about "American medium salsa" so the first time, I ordered the regular boneless chicken mild, not knowing their definition of heat. The sauce, what little there was of it, had no flavor. Second time, I tried medium ... I honestly couldn't tell that much of a difference between the two. Not only does it not taste anything like standard buffalo-style sauce, they don't really taste much like anything except ... plain, unseasoned chicken.
Same goes for the pickles and cauliflower bites. Gluten free breading doesn't have to be flavorless.
Also not impressed with the to-go packaging. We placed an order for 7+ people a week beforehand and when we got it home, the only thing marked to differentiate between items were the sides of ranch sauce (I assume to differentiate between that and blue cheese). None of the different chicken packages were marked and let me tell you ... it was difficult to tell a 5 piece regular/buffalo from a 5 piece "chili garlic". They looked identical and both had 2 limp, warm pieces of celery under the chicken...but I since they tasted almost identical - like chicken - guess it didn't matter much ...lol.
To each their own but we...
Read moreI got a ten piece chicken wing here. The food itself was average. I got the normal "hot" sauce and the sauce itself was watery and not particulary spicy, so it didn't really add much to the chicken. I wouldn't say that this was worth the $17 I paid for it, either. It isn't any different quality than what you'd get from any chain sports bar.
But what really stood out was the service. I was one of two customers in there, but the waitress really went out of her way to not serve me.
This was at 1 pm on a Thursday afternoon. First, i waited a long time for someone to come get my rider. I went up to the bar where the waitress was and she got mad at me as soon as I walked up saying she was about to to me.
Then she took my order: a water and 10 wings. She then goes outside for 6 or 7 minutes, then comes back inside, goes behind the bar, and gets on her phone. So I had to go up to her and ask for my water.
Then the guy in the kitchen said "order up" and she ignored it and stayed on her phone. He even repeated it a couple times "order up, please" and she kept ignoring him. I just sat there and watched and eventually someone else brought me my food. Again, I'm one of two people in the whole place.
It was all pretty bad for some mediocre, overpriced food. I'll give a 2nd start for the location and the food not being...
Read moreAfter being vegetarian for 3 years, I slowly wanted to add meat back into my diet due to nutritional needs. My nutritionist recommended poultry to start, so I knew I wanted my full first meal to be Wing-Itz, a college favorite of mine.
After a week or so of weening, Friday night came around and it was time to order. I couldn't imagine eating anything off the bone so we opted for boneless (or so I thought) and my fav, truffle fries.
We picked up the order and drove home. To my utter dismay, I had accidentally ordered 15 bone-in wings!!!! I was absolute devastated and did not know what to do. My partner was kind enough to call back, and the sweet woman working didn't even hesitate and offered us 15 boneless tenders, and to come grab them whenever we could.
I reluctantly drove myself back to Wing-Itz and she was too kind. She told us to keep the bone-in, which fed a very happy moving crew the next day when we moved out of Dover.
These guys and gals are class acts, and serve the best fries and tenders on the seacoast! Give them a visit if you're...
