Came here for a nice little outing over the weekend. We sat outside with nice weather. The hostess was kind enough to even help us Scooch the table over a bit so it would fit underneath the umbrella better. We shared an appetizer. (Not pictured) which was the lobster potholes, which was very light and flavorful. I personally really enjoyed my watermelon salad specially as an end of summer meal. The cocktails were a great highlight with interesting flavors. I know I’m a sucker for something that looks good and taste just as great. my partner also got the barbecue bison burger, which was super flavorfu filling. They also have other shareable sides that we just did not end up getting, but if is as good as everything else, I would doubt it. I would definitely not skip out on a dessert either. They also have a kids menu with good pricing and selection for your little ones. Even being right off the track so if you don’t wanna walk away, you can even take a trip. The noise was not a big issue. Plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor. I would definitely recommend trying to stop in on one of our last summer days for brunch or early dinner to enjoy the nice weather and relaxing atmosphere with good food and drink. Almost forgot to mention that there is quite the list of beer so whether you’re wine cocktail or beer person. Everyone can have what they like. (Mocktail selection also available and appreciated for those who don’t drink or just don’t want to ) also Can’t wait to come here again!

So, we were on the hunt for a spot to grab some dinner and stumbled upon Cadence Kitchen & Co in downtown Downers Grove after reading some reviews. We decided to give it a shot. Getting seated was a breeze since the place wasn't too busy. After scanning the menu, we thought we'd kick things off with some sharable appetizers. We went all out and ordered the Crispy Cauliflower & Giardiniera, Crab Beignets, Short Rib Empanadas, and lobster. Yeah, we went a bit overboard. First up, the empanadas. Our server recommended them, but they fell flat. Tasted like reused oil with zero flavor. Not a great start. The crab beignets redeemed the situation a bit. Tasty, although a tad oily. My wife seemed to enjoy the cauliflower, but it was just alright for me. Nothing special. Now, the lobster... Oh boy, what a letdown. Presentation was lacking, taste was off, and we couldn't even force ourselves to finish it. After that disappointment, we decided to call it quits on the mains and headed out. Overall, Cadence Kitchen & Co had its hits and misses. Maybe stick to the safer options on the menu next time

Crab beignets were decent, could use a little more crab meat. Shrimp and polenta was pretty good, a little kick to it. Black Angus beef filet I was disappointed in because for the price I expected a bit more flavor. I ordered it medium rare, there was a little pink but not as juicy as I wanted. Mashed potatoes that went with it was a bit too salty. Maybe next time just add a dash of salt not a tablespoon? The apple crostata was like an apple pie except they gave me the dish with the ice cream already melted. Let's talk about the service, it was pretty bad. Not once did I get my water refilled and it took awhile to have our dishes cleared off before the dessert came. The waitress could have been a bit more attentive. Honestly, I thought about going to Foxtail but I was disappointed in Pierce Tavern and Cadence Kitchen. After eating at some of the best restaurants in Chicago, I felt like downtown DG restaurants were just meh at most.

First time customers. We went for an early dinner about 5 p.m. tonight and had a disturbing experience. The restaurant is beautiful, nicely designed and decorated. Service was prompt. I ordered the salmon with a honey mustard glaze, Israeli cous cous, and asparagus. My dinner was very good, salmon cooked properly, portion sizes appropriate, plating good, and it was hot. My wife ordered what the menu said was a steak sandwich, with a 3 year aged cheddar and bordelaise sauce. She told the server she would like it medium-rare, and he said that's the way it came. When they brought the entrees the sandwich was essentially an Italian Beef! No bordelaise, no medium-rare, it was a beef sandwich. We called our server over and he stumbled a bit, said "well it says it's seared". At that point I told him, politely, that I was a chef and know the difference. He apologized and offered to switch it out to something else. We declined as I had my food and didn't want to have to wait. He came back and said he told a manager and the manager said the menu description was wrong (we knew that), it was from an old menu item. We ordered coffee and split a dessert, which was good. We got the bill and not one item was comped! Not the coffee, not a drink, not dessert, nothing. No visit from a manager either. Mistakes happen, but when you admit it was your mistake make it right. It's not the money, it's the principle. I doubt we'd go back. UPDATE 12/19: I was contacted by the chef owner via email and he apologized for the issues we experienced. He also made it right by us, so we will be giving them another try. As I told him, we want...
