Ordered one of the skillets, which was pretty good. The service, with the waitress started out good. But, then we noticed that water hadn’t been brought out to us, so I asked our waitress that water be brought out to us. We were seated by the kitchen, so I could see her go get a carafe of water, without ice. However, instead of bringing the water to our table, she decided to stop and talk (lingering and laughing) with a another female employee(whom later stated she was the manager when I asked for the manager - but didn’t give her name, nor did she have a name tag). After waiting for a few minutes for her, watching her laugh it up with the manager, I asked one of the male servers if he could bring us some water. He went to get a carafe of water with ice. As he brought the water toward table she then took notice of him bringing the water out and started to approach, but stopped and turned around as she realized that he was in fact bringing the carafe of water to our table, then she doubled back to hand him the glass cups to give to us. One of the glass cups appeared not clean (clouded), so I requested of our waitress to bring another cleaner glass. She brought one out even worse, and she had an attitude, as if I was bothering her. I politely asked her again, but this time pointing out the problem, showing her the one clear clean glass we had compared to the other cloudy (dare I say dirty) glass. She then took both glasses (I thought to compare the clear glass to bring us another clear glass, but instead, she took the glasses, showing us that she was bothered that we even requested such a thing) right to the kitchen area, where she and that female coworker (she was talking and laughing with earlier) came out laughing again and holding the glasses up to the light and then sending the female over to us with 2 cloudy (dirty looking) glasses, set them on our table and walked away. I then requested to speak to a manager. A young lady goes toward the kitchen area, and out comes the female (waitress/manager) whom our waitress was laughing and talking with during the whole time. When I explained the situation to her, she didn’t offer any apologies for the behavior of the waitress or herself, and just stated that the dish washer makes the glasses cloudy that way, but that we, as in the restaurant could get clearer glasses. It was clear to me that she didn’t care what I had an issue with, she was obviously covering for the rude and bad attitude of the waitress. Needless to say, I did not leave a tip for our waitress. And, I will not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends, not because of the food, but because of the service. It’s really ashame that some people who are in the business of serving the public don’t understand that if you don’t try to at least give the effort of actually serving your patrons, the business, in this case, EGG Harbor on Mochel Dr. in Downers Grove, will loose business. When I looked around, all the other tables with people seated, had a carafe of water with ice brought out to them soon after being seated. I don’t remember our waitress’ name, however my receipt said our server was “Itzia”, if that’s her name, it truly is ashame, her behavior, and the manager’s as well. No, I won’t be giving my business to this...
Read moreEXTREMELY disappointing!! We are frequent guests at the Oak Brook location and we recently moved and we’re excited to find the DG location for this Sunday’s breakfast!!
Had we known how poor of an experience it would be we would have stayed home.
Our server was nice enough but never greeted us or told us his name. He was extremely slow and really had no sense of anticipation as to what may be needed at the table like waters, and extra napkins because the coffee pot had coffee running down the sides and all over the table. He never once asked how are meal was or if there was anything else we needed? He then just showed up with the check.
We were also very disappointed that in this age of coffee they don’t have a barista!! What no Barista!? For the money you pay here that should be a no brainer. Then on top of that the standard coffee was over cooked and not good at all. The food was also quite disappointing as my wife’s Avocado toast was so lightly toasted it was basically bread. The eggs that came with my 6 year olds meal were old looking and if there was one full egg that would have been a lot. The fruit was in terrible shape and looked as though it was sitting for days brown and desiccated grapes and pineapple that was dark yellow moving towards almost orange color. All This for over $50.
I understand that in these times of the Pandemic post or otherwise things are tough and some things are out of managements and ownerships control. However, when you go out to dine you are looking for some quality and an experience unfortunately neither was found this day and both of these things can be controlled by management and employees.
Needless to say we will not be going back to DG location. We will drive and extra 15 minutes to get...
Read moreWent with my wife and toddler for Sunday brunch. We were seated right away which was a great start but then somebody had to ask if we had been served and said she was taking our order but wasn't our actual server. I understand "team based service" but we didn't even get our actual server's name! We ordered for our toddler first so she didn't have to wait. The rainbow pancake she had was the most sugary thing we ever tasted! The orange juice wasn't great either IMO and it came with 2 lids such that it was impossible to put a straw through the opening. When someone came to take our order, it was somebody different again. My wife and I both had the same order, "Joe's healthy scrambler". The only difference is that my wife wanted peppers in hers. By the tone of this review, you can probably guess what happened. She did not get those peppers. And TBH, it would not have helped if she did. The dish was a watery bland mixture of dried out egg whites, dry chicken sausage, droopy spinach and oily onions covered with mozzarella and heated in a microwave that it left a lot to be desired. The jam with English muffin and the fruit was what I ate and it was ok. I guess Joe's secret to staying healthy is only eating half his breakfast. At this point, we asked for some extra napkins in a subtle attempt to get some attention from our own server (still had no idea who she/he was). We got napkins and shortly thereafter, we got the cheque and mints without asking. That not so subtle hint prompted us to speak to the manager about the visit who was very apologetic and comped us for the meal. That's why I would give 2 stars not 1. Although we are unlikely to...
