Leslie's New York Pizzeria — Restaurant in Downey

I heard about this new place and read the reviews and I wanted to try it out for myself. I got a large round pie with pepperoni and sausage, and a square pie with pepperoni and sausage. The first thing I noticed was that they used sliced sausage, and that's a no go for me. I prefer chunks of sausage on my pizza. The square pizza was I guess Detroit style, but not enough crispy cheese around the edges. The sauce was scarce, and tasted canned, just tasted like crushed tomatoes and not a hint of anything else. The round pizza was a little greasy, but okay. Both pizzas had huge slices, so that was good. The place was nice and clean, and was busy. I like what they are doing, but I think if they need to tweak their sauce and crust for more flavor, both were bland in my humble opinion. Also drop the sliced sausage and do chunks. Prices were a tad high, but the pies are a good size, so I think it's worth it for fresh, good pizza. Give them a try and see...

I was Excited to try this place,mmmm it looks delicious online.The customer service was GOOD very helpful and there was plenty of parking.I understand they just opened about a week ago so I'll keep that in mind.Enough stalling, upon entering the Leslies pizzeria I was HIT with a pretty strong smell of pinsol? Theres 1 table and no chairs I guess u place your order, wait in your car than u and your family eat your Dinner inside the car.Now time for the FOOD REVIEW u have been waiting for, I will be honest not rude.The calzone was Delicious it was definitely fresh,the 1 slice of pizza I ordered however tasted old was very chewy.The garlic knots that looked very good tasted dry on inside and tasted old but the side of marinara sauce was really good I recommend it.Will give the place some time to get their routine down might return,...

The cheese pizza and spicy pepperoni are my favorites. You can get pizza by the slice or whole. The single slices are huge and during this time of greedflation and shrinkflation, I feel your money is well spent here for the quality you are receiving.
